So the franchise will likely rule both box office and music chart next week as See You Again has a good shot on topping the Billboard Hot 100 while FF7 will still be #1 on the box office (unless Unfriended surprises big time to beat it at #1 but I doubt it)

Excellent opening! I agree with everyone who said that Paul's death contributed to this big OW numbers. No way to measure it but there's always curiosity especially for a high profile movie/media property like this. Like someone mentioned Glee's rating rose significantly for the tribute episode for their late leading man but after that the ratings went back to its normal low ratings, Michael Jackson's death led to the rise of sales in his past albums as well and strong opening for the concert movie he was not able to finish. It sounds wrong but it's human nature Nevertheless, had Paul lived on and FF7 opened in its original July 2014 schedule, it would have opened strong as well maybe still over 100M

McFarland did quite nicely for a minor release from Disney Is Taken 3 going to crawl to 90M? Paddington did really good as well Penguins still there lol

Agree, I also feel groupthink also has been prevalent as of late. And also people setting up way too high predictions that when the movie does not meet it, it would feel like the movie is a box office failure even if it isn't

FF7 finally opens here today (April 4) and here in the country Black Saturday is a good time for box office since Maundy Thursday and Good Friday practically all the malls are closed due to the lent season, Black Saturday is the time when people on vacation/break go out to watch movies.excited to see how it will perform here.It's opening a local romcom and Spongebob so we should have exciting box office day today too
