  1. Pixar released Cars 2 on the same year with Rango so there
  2. Another advantage of Big Hero 6 why it won the Oscar is it was the biggest in the box office among the nominees with LEGO out of the picture, so probably more voters watched it with their kids and this is an enjoyable flick so there.
  3. I love Lost Stars but the live performance of Glory was so beautiful and made me appreciate the song even more so I'm happy it won
  4. Congrats Big Hero 6! I was hoping for Dragon 2 but I like Big Hero 6 so no issue here for me
  5. Congrats Big Hero 6! When it was winning the guilds, i knew it was going to take the Oscar.
  6. Decent for The Duff and MacFarland. Disappointed with Spongebob's legs, good thing the OW was strong and budget is low Impressed with Imitation Game's 26% drop this weekend.
  7. ASIA PACIFIC Australia, $8.6 million. Biggest opening for a film rated R, and Universal's biggest non-holiday opening. Philippines, $2.2 million. Biggest opening for a film with an 18 rating, and the biggest February debut for a foreign release. New Zealand, $1.1 million. Biggest opening for an R-rated film. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/fifty-shades-box-office-country-773600 *** That's HUGE especially it does not have SM Cinemas which has like 70% of total screens in the country!
  8. Hi rth! Do you have info for the Philippines, I was in the theater yesterday Valentines and as early as 1030am the lines were insane!!!
  9. That's good for 50 Shades, this board just have lofty expectations as always. That number for Kingsman though, is great! It was good counterprogramming move
  10. This. As kids grow up, another generation of kids takes it place that loves Spongebob. My nephew is 6, he and his classmates love spongebob. It has staying power, no wonder it's been on the air for so long I read on another site before that Spongebob is still dominates in the 2-11 demo in the TV ratings plus it has a sizable 18-49 viewers as well (higher than some adult stuff on cable like the HBO & Showtime shows)
  11. The top 3 2014 Movie Releases stars supporting players from Bill Engvall Show, Everwood and Alias.
  12. Black or White had a nice second week drop. I wonder what the budget is, it could be small-size hit for Relativity. It doesn't look expensive but Kevin Costner's talent fee though.... EDIT: Costner financed the movie and it costs 9M http://www.freep.com/story/entertainment/movies/julie-hinds/2014/12/09/movie-mike-binder-black-white-release-date/20148327/
  13. Agree on Gwyneth. Blake Lively is following her footsteps, she has this Goop like website too lol.
  14. When Penguins and Dragon 2 opened below expectations last year, there were some who said that their TV show hurt the movie but how can we explain Spongebob then which has been on the air for such a long time already
  15. 4 epic flops this year in less than 2 months: Blackhat, Mortdecai, Seventh Son and Jupiter Ascending!
  16. Good hold for AS, back on track for the #1 2014 release title IG is doing nice as well but 100M seems unlikely now, I think Weinstein was expecting it will be The King Speech Part 2 but well while Boyhood is following the same path of Social Network in the awards circuit , Birdman was the one that beat in the guilds awards not IG, so the movie is less likely to going to win the BP now so there won't be that much Oscar boost.
  17. Feb 2016 already has the Untitled Pets Project from Universal so yeah Feb is now really a prime spot for animation
  18. Yay for Spongebob! Somehow it's a win for traditional animation although the marketing was centered on the live action part. Spongebob's OW will be higher than the OW of all recent DWA movies
