  1. Why Hollywood Isn’t Freaking Over Bummer 2014 Box Office http://www.thewrap.com/why-hollywood-isnt-freaking-over-bummer-2014-box-office/ This year will be off around 5 percent from 2013’s record-breaker, but most studios have made money on their films With the holiday season soft, it’s clear the 2014 domestic box office is going to wind up down from last year by nearly 5 percent. So why aren’t we hearing more groans and gnashing of teeth from Hollywood executives? It’s because despite the downturn, the majority of the studios made money on their movies. Fox, Disney, Paramount, Universal, Warner Bros. and Sony should all — to varying degrees — wind up in the black on their film slates. The fact that 2015 has a shot to be the biggest on record is brightening Hollywood’s mood, too. Among the heavyweight films set for release: “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” “Jurassic World,” along with the next James Bond film “Spectre” and the “Hunger Games” finale.
  2. But under negative circumstances, The voters are from the industry and who knows maybe some of them were affected with the Sony leak of private information of employees, the movie has stigma. A campaign to "clean" this movie's image is needed to convince voters to vote and I doubt Sony will even bother to do one with all their problems
  3. Very unlikely. Getting 5% #1 votes might sound easy to get but it's not unless there's a campaign to be made
  4. Randall Park has an upcoming family sitcom on ABC - Fresh Off The Boat. This drama is extra publicity for the show lol
  5. Sony Pictures allows theaters to show 'The Interview': Dallas cinema http://www.reuters.com/article/2014/12/23/us-northkorea-cyberattack-dallas-idUSKBN0K11GJ20141223?utm_source=twitter (Reuters) - Sony Pictures will allow the release of comedy "The Interview" on Dec. 25 less than a week after pulling the film's planned release following a devastating cyber attack, a Dallas cinema set to screen the film said on Tuesday. The screwball comedy about a fictional plot to assassinate North Korea leader Kim Jong Un led to a cyber attack on the studio, which the U.S. government has blamed on North Korea.
  6. Time to get this thread back on the main board. I'm sick with this Interview drama already so glad it's finally getting a release
  7. The national nightmare is over Sony Set To Announce ‘The Interview,’ Theatrical, VOD Release (Exclusive) http://www.thewrap.com/sony-set-to-announce-the-interview-theatrical-vod-release-exclusive/
  8. Sony Set To Announce ‘The Interview,’ Theatrical, VOD Release (Exclusive) http://www.thewrap.com/sony-set-to-announce-the-interview-theatrical-vod-release-exclusive/ After a national clamor to release the film despite threats, Sony finds a way to get the comedy out there Sony Pictures is set to release the cancelled Seth Rogen comedy “The Interview” in theaters and on video on demand, TheWrap has learned. The plan is apparently to release the film simultaneously in participating theaters and via video on demand. The Plaza theater in Atlanta and a theater in Austin have now said they will distribute the film. The studio is expected to announce the planned release on Tuesday, according to an individual with knowledge of the studio’s plans. Momentum has been growing across the country to reverse a decision to cancel the movie’s Christmas Day theatrical release after threats and a cyber-hack by North Korea. A plan to distribute “The Interview” over Dish Network fell apart after talks between Sony and the satellite TV provider broke down over the weekend. The exact list of distributors was not immediately available, but the Art House Convergence, a national coalition of smaller, independent movie theaters, on Monday told Sony Pictures that its members are also willing and anxious to screen “The Interview.”
  9. Surprised they;re giving Big Eyes a wide release
  10. Sony posting the movie on Piratebay means they're supporting piracy which you know the industry is trying to fight as well They should have done just a limited release in NY or LA ala Oscar movies instead of cancelling it, or just "postponed" it instead of cancelling it
  11. Dean S ‏@DinoStraciatela 26m26 minutes ago @NateSilver538 Might be noise but Sony Market Cap down $2bn since the leaks & down $300mm in after hours NYSE trading.
  12. Matthew Belloni ‏@THRMattBelloni 10m10 minutes ago Why did Sony scrap VOD for The Interview? Insurance, a (non-sony) source tells me. A total loss invokes full coverage, partial doesn't.
  13. Looks like this is the hottest thread on the forum right now
  14. I think VOD/online streaming companies would probably not be interested in streaming this because they're afraid of getting hacked as well I think this will eventually get leaked as well. Coming soon in your favorite torrent sites
  15. I blame Sony's IT dept. If there was no hacking at all, they would not have taken those threats seriously. So much drama for this movie
  16. I think these are just the laid off employees posing as North Koreans
  17. For years there has been tension between South Korea and North Korea and I know there were threats too but South Korea is doing just fine. Sony is overestimating what these hackers can do But well some cinemas are pulling this because there was simply no demand too. Honestly, I've always felt that the premise of this movie is bad. They could just have made a fictional leader that closely resembles him anyway, making him an actual character kinda loses the fun for me. Anyway, all these Interview drama just exposed how weak Sony's system and management.
