  1. I wonder if Disney delays VIII and turns Star Wars into a Christmas staple after these numbers. Dec 15 - TFA Dec 16 - Rogue Dec 17 - VIII Dec 18 - Solo Dec 19 - IX
  2. I've been saying 200+ for Star Wars for months. Not letting everyone else scare me out of it this time. Standing tall and giving it a legitimate chance to topple JW.
  3. This is insanity. My gut told me to go higher than 150 for this. I only made that prediction because literally everyone else was saying 100-125.
  4. https://twitter.com/BoxOffice/status/561540370136592386 $10 million Fri for Sniper.
  5. It's widely considered a well-made movie, at the very least. Dishonest? Maybe. It's straightforward and unpretentious (if a bit basic and un-flashy). It's going to beat the fucking shit out of Mockingjay (probably both), though. Thank God.
  6. I think it's incredibly stupid that Americans would have made two Hunger Games flicks their number one movies in consecutive years if not for the savior that is American Sniper.
  7. I'm extremely tempted to say Star Wars is a lock for 500. I think it'll do mammoth numbers over Christmas and into early January. It won't behave like Avatar deep into Jan and early Feb, but it'll annihilate Alvin and MI5. Easily a 180+ OW followed by second and third weekends in the 70-90 neighborhood each. It'll be the biggest December release for a very long time. Mark it.
  8. It would be the greatest thing ever if this beat Mockingjay. Shame that it's currently at the top.
  9. Still trying to figure out how Hunger Games opened to 152 a few years ago. Thought it was astoundingly bland for such a colossal hit. Even before I saw it, though... trailer looked weak, female protagonist, obvious Twilight-wannabe. Dumbfounded to this day that 40-45% of its audience was male and that the series has basically become the new Harry Potter. I never looked at the books' sales. I guess the answer is in those.
  10. Whoa. That could very well be a reality.
  11. This topic has probably already been exhausted on these forums, but these Thursday previews get on my nerves. Don't studios want a high OW number anymore? Do they think they're making more money with Thurs previews?
