  1. Yeah. I mean why didn't the chart state that 1) an August release is the highest earner for the summer, and 2) that TMNT is also an overperformer. And a pretty huge one? Yes, it's true that fewer movies are released in August, but no one expected GOTG, even at it's best prediction, to hit as high as it did, and others thought TMNT would flop on its ass. Which it didn't.
  2. I watched Rio 2 yesterday with my little guy. He absolutely loved it. I thought it was pretty adorable. Though I suspect Rio 1 was better. But now this thread's making me realize how few cartoons I actually know about or have seen outside Pixar. I need to rent Paranorman.
  3. Lilo and Stitch is magnificent. Watch it all the time with the numbnut. It's even partly inspired the book I'm currently writing. Except no alien.
  4. Wall-E always makes me cry big dumb tears. I'd say 3/4ths of Pixar's output does, actually. That said... RANK THE PIXAR MOVIES!
  5. I cannot fucking wait for this movie to be rentable. Damn, the wait for it feels endless… Damn, sorry I killed the thread
  6. I always enter every conversation that I come in on at the tail end with a reaction similar to my initials -- WTF?! I am also torn between entering the off-topic fray and staying on topic LOL! And then I try to say something smart about the numbers and shit, but before I've had my coffee, and I end up sounding stupid (in my head…)
  7. Um... Team Pixar, I guess ;)Guardians and Turtles are just kicking all the ass aren't they? I do follow a lot of YA authors and bloggers on Twitter, and at least If I Stay's doing well with them, even if it didn't set the BO on fire like I wanted it to. Ugh at SC2 failing on all levels. Still Team Eva
  8. That same guy also spammed SHH with links to buy some sort of superhero jacket or something. No one takes them seriously, LOL! And yeah, agreed with Marvel. When they have somehow managed to go two-for-two with crowd (and critic) pleasing movies in a year, that's some magical movie touch. The GA has spoken, and they are absolutely enamored with the products Marvel is producing. While this summer's been underwhelming, if solely going by the downward trend of movie grosses and lack of $100mil. openers, GOTG pulling out potentially $300million shouldn't be snuffed at. Wouldn't we be cheering $300mil. for any new, unproven franchise starter in a normal, burgeoning box office year? That should mean the movie connected with the GA in a big way.
  9. Good to hear! My hubs and I clung to our bed for dear life. That was a strong one! Poor Napa and Sonoma counties though Jeez man... The top two movies keep rolling right along! Great performances**Obviously referring only to the top 2...
  10. OMG did you just feel that American Canyon earthquake??? A 6.0!! #ShakennotStirred
  11. So glad to see that GOTG Sat. number. Beautiful! And the Turtle number is strong. Liked.Kind of sad IIS is not going to really break out, but WTActualF at Sin City 2? That number is disgusting.(BTW, so mixed on TASM2...)
  12. .... Is this the thread where I drunkenly announce I'm watching The Amazing Spider-Man 2 for the first time? God bless Redbox rentals of Blu-Rays.
  13. Jeez… did IIS really fall that hard? Damn dudes. Can't believe it's a legit possibility that GOTG wins this weekend. Crazy. GO $17million!!
  14. The GOTG numbers are awesome! IIS is good.DEAR LORD SIN CITY 2 KILL IT FIRE!! (Except for Eva Green, who would probably start the fire and walk all over its ashes. She needs better management!)
  15. But they were also widely held to be subpar sequels. They might have fared better if the product was actually good.
