  1. Excuse you, if someone said the same thing about the HP or Divergent series, I'd say the exact same thing! ANd I'm a pretty damn staunch fan of Fault in Our Stars, so. I don't watch rom coms, not really my thing, but I wouldn't call people who loved them "sheep" either
  2. I'm fine with expressing an opinion… I take issue with blanket calling fans of a particular thing "sheep". That's all. And maybe the "elitist" tag was inaccurate. One's taste can be elite in movies, or even considered "snobby." Lord knows I like those types of movies, but I just wanted to take issue with what I found to be the more insulting parts of his posts. Which, of course, you may not find insulting… So it's all subjective
  3. No, wait… what? Is this actually a thing? (Goddamn stop green lighting everything Hollywood!)
  4. It's fine to feel that way, but I think there's something about your post that comes across as very elitist. Like, you just cannot believe that anyone could love these movies, or that we don't recognize that there are similar patterns in the story. I think it's really, really dismissive of fans of certain CBMs to call them "sheep". Like… why go there? The superhero origin story does follow somewhat similar beats. The MCU origin stories do it, Spider-Man and X-Men did it, BIG HERO 6 does it, but so does… *gasp* Batman Begins and Superman/Man of Steel too. There are some elements that stay the same, and others that are different. Also, what makes each of these movies better than some is the presentation, the way they can use certain details about the characters for clever moments, wit and relatability. The quality of visual effects plays a big part in them too. These movies are meant to be crowd pleasers; is it so beyond the realm of possibility that a crowd pleasing movie *gasp* also gathers some critical acclaim as well? Like, basically a majority of critics praising a movie that delivers fun, pleasing moments? Maybe something like INTERSTELLAR, while being unique, was simply too divisive for some critics. It should be pointed out that 73% on RT and whatever it has on Metacritic hardly indicates that it is a critical flop; there are very few CBMs that scored higher than IS. That's fine if you don't like them, but really, you present your opinion by basically insulting those of us who do. What's the point in doing that?
  5. Oh really? I *LOVED* Madagascar 3… and I thought the first two were pretty 'mehhhhhh'.
  6. I almost screamed when they showed what Coulson was drawing. AOS instantly became linked to Phase Three, Cosmic Marvel and possibly the Infinity War itself. Well done, Marvel! I DIED WHEN I SAW THAT!!! GAH!!!! Yeah, I can't wait for even more. That was perfection. I like that AOS seems to be showing the future of the MCU rather than playing catchup.
  7. Last night's episode…. GAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!1! !!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. I'm hoping it's good…. taking my kid to see it, if only to continue this streak where we see awesome animated films in theaters. I'm hoping that after taking a big hit the first week Penguins is released, BH6 and it can coexist as the holidays draw near. Then again, that's as long as Penguins isn't complete shite.
  9. I need that BH6 number to stay that high (or close...) So high. Much money. All Baymax.
  10. Everyone that my husband has talked to at his job (all adults, all science/movie geeks) thought BH6 was amazing! My husband favorite movie this year (And then he suggested That there be a Sexy Baymax costume... *rolling eyes*)
  11. Judging from the way things have gone this year, if people hate ANNIE, I predict I will fucking love it like burning OMG!
  12. Sheeeeeeit… I legitimately teared up during that fucking Annie trailer on the big screen. My son was all sorts of into it too, and he loves musicals, so. Yeah, I guess your range would be pretty good for it, given the competition.
  13. Just to say… all these potential clubs are cracking me up!
  14. I forget that Hobbit and NATM is coming out LOL! I'll choose Annie and maybe NATM to see with my kid over break.
  15. I am convinced ANNIE's going to over perform. The last trailer made it look like the perfect holiday movie. $200+ million isn't out of the question. ETA: okay, maybe $160million-170. The movie looks great, okay?
  16. That is a pretty bold overestimate from Paramount though… all for the sake of, "IT GROSSED $50 MILLION OW!" That said, I'm disappointed that it didn't get higher, if only to have two top grossers in the $50 million range. Interested to see how good the legs are, if it plays like a typical Nolan film. BH6 is so much love though. Wish it could've broken $60 million, but it increased from WIR and likely on track for $200 million plus.
  17. Sunday football affected it a lot I guess. Wonder if Vet's Day will give its Tues a boost. ETA: What Ecstasy said
  18. In completely unrelated news: I am totally in love with Days of Future Past!! Just watched it last night… If we count Big Hero 6 as a quasi Marvel movie, then Marvel's 4 for 5 for me this year. Much comics. So gold. Cap and GOTG are still my top CBM movies for me. Cap's my personal favorite, but I think GOTG's the (slightly) better film.
  19. You think $38-40 million is doable for BH6? That would put it on par or slightly below the drops for WIR. Um, if I mathed that right.
