  1. I can see fudging to reach double figures, or fudging the entire weekend, but why would they bother to fudge from like 10m to 12m when no-one outside of this forum even cares about the difference between the two?
  2. It has more users if anything, Dune has 96k votes on LB, 30k votes on IMDB. The population is also different, there's more of a cinephile skew.
  3. I don't think it has enough "feel good" factor for an A+, as incredible as it is.
  4. It's not actually an issue as long as people actually end up watching, it just bums out people who like tracking big OWs (us).
  5. 9.1 on IMDB with 26k votes, at the same point Part 1 was on 8.5 (now 8.0), so pretty good, it could eventually settle at like 8.6-8.8, maybe even higher.
  6. There's a bunch of recaps on youtube, watch one of those at least.
  7. I think it's a fair critique. I mean it makes sense that total precognition / communing with your ancestors would change your personality somewhat, but it's...very sharp.
  8. Clockwork Orange would be a bit on the nose in a Joker movie, particularly one that features his stay at an asylum.
  9. I think Chani leaving at the happened because they're planning to play around with the Chani vs Irulan dynamics in Messiah to a greater extent than what happened in the books, the issue is the time skip, so either she'll return during the time skip (which would be an incredibly weird way to solve such a big plot point) or they're planning to have her return during a dramatically appropriate moment in Messiah (and then they need to give her enough time for it to make sense...), or maybe there's just no time skip again, somehow.
  10. By the way, I watched it with a friend who's as GA as they come, he watched Part 1 years ago on my recommendation and didn't finish it cause he thought it was boring, he rewatched it again before Part 2 and still didn't really like it, cause he felt it was too dry, and he loved Part 2. He didn't even know who the Harkonnens were he just called them "the bald guys", but he had a great time. I'm hoping for an A cinemascore on the strength of this sample size of 1.
  11. The biggest change is that in the books there's a pretty significant time skip, Alia is a creepy child, and she kills the Baron. Personally I'm fine with this change, cause I just have a hard time seeing anyone doing Alia right, it will definitely piss some Dune fans off though, cause it has some implications. Another big change is that Chani is a skeptic, in the book she even duels his challengers when he can't be bothered, and she doesn't leave at the end of the movie. There are a bunch of smaller changes outside of these as well.
  12. Probably my favorite reaction so far. I'll be seeing it tomorrow on IMAX, my first time ever seeing a movie in an IMAX, here's hoping it lives up to the hype.
  13. I don't think you understand what I'm saying, but as JustLurking said it's just clogging up the thread so let's not get into it here.
  14. It won SAG Ensemble, it's so locked for Best Picture it's not even funny.
  15. You're mixing up two different scales. MC is not equivalent to the tomatometer, it's equivalent to the average rating, so there's a difference of 7 points, or just 2 if you're looking at the top critics (who are the main contributers to MC).
  16. I thought MacBeth was brilliant, though I struggled with the Shakespearean English somewhat. It also did have some moments of levity, like Stephen Root's cameo, and Denzel straight up slapping his enemy.
  17. Ridley Scott-David Scarpa previous collaborations suggest that it's not even touching it in artistic value.
  18. They kept flying elephants in from Africa, Ridley took a look at them, said "no not this one" and repeated the process.
