  1. surprised Obi-Wan made it only at #32. Leo Titanic powered more points? tisk tisk tisk. Also Batman's Keaton at #31?? A lot of old school fans apparently. Seems The Dark Knight Trilogy did not have any impact with the submission of other Batman characters with Michael Keaton and Michelle Pfeifer resulting so high with points. I voted 2 votes for the character Anakin Skywalker + Darth Vader, but I only voted once for Obi-Wan. exciting that Colonel Quaritch scored that high with 5 strong votes in a consensus. I think with that kind of weight, he should somehow find his way to the AFI's top characters someday with the proper advertising. unless it is just a fluke considering the high placement everyday James Cameron characters. lol, now I just have to wonder which ones placed above #30 where Jack Dawson sits.
  2. ^^ I had to check the date to make sure those are recent. I missed the Academy Awards 2018 noms by a decent amount of time. So airheaded with some things. You can login to vote? Are they real?
  3. Looks like Peppermint is pushing for that Bridget Jones Baby 20M OW
  4. Were directors cuts harder to save when film was around versus today when footage is saved via digital? How much more of a directors cut can you edit with digital cameras these days? lol.
  5. TLJ just needed to be more of a crowd pleaser to get that extra 100 million. The days over December were still powerful. However, they declined. From 30/day to 20/day etc. Jumanji however compensated for all that. TLJ had to take a turn from the first so it can land on the third. It should be tough to make the middle one a fairy tale, but TLJ still set a few records, made some awards, and should get beat by larger crowds next time.
  6. Star Wars: Clone Wars has the best introduction titles outside of the cannon. The others are Solo and Rogue One. When the Lucasfilm logo shows, you hear radio transmissions from an intergalactic space battle and then the Star Wars logo comes up. Instead of text scrolling across the screen, you get a quick narration. It is challenging because one of the first things they state is ‘after the battle of Geonisis’. This is where the arena battle and the first clone wars happened in the Attack of the Clones. The basic Star Wars broadcast narrator goes on to state, during a space battle sequence, that Count Dooku and the Separatist army in the droid side of the clone wars has gained control over hyperspace lanes in the galaxy which made it easier for the separatists to win over and annex other plants tied to overall galactic political structure. Relative of the Hutt’s and out on the outskirts, Jabba the Hutt resides on and were an easy target during the beginning of the war. His is kidnapped by some unknown renegades. Back in Coruscant headquarters, Chancellor Palpatine and Mace Windu discuss this happening. Palpatine feels the Jedi would be best to go to the outskirts, or wherever the Hutt’s son was taken and bring him back to satisfy Jabba. Only Anakin and Obi-Wan are available which is fine by the Chancellor to send them. As far as the action, you start off with a land battle. Anakin and Obi-Wan are trying to master the level, there are a lot of video game combination recreation moves with the Jedi, and the troops of clones and droids feature large strategical numbers. They go through another battle and try to capture the head official of a planet. Through this battle, they push the front lines, while light years away, Yoda and the fleet are met with resistance against the Separatist and droid defense fleet. Yoda wants to get the fleet past the blockade and to aid General Kenobi on the outskirts. Yoda orders Obi-Wan to handle a treaty with Jabba the Hutt while Skywalker is to take a newfound apprentice and find and apprehend Jabba’s kidnapped son. The Jedi pairings in the land battles are strong as they are super force sensitive. Palpatine has command of the clone army while the Jedi will act on will as generals or just as Jedi, hence Yoda trying to make a push past the Separatist space blockade. Anakin realizes his new apprentice Ahsoka Tano is worse at following direction than he is, but he seems to find this as a virtue and reason to progress training. The action briefly stops. At the thirty-minute point, you are entering the third battle already. The Clone Wars is masterfully done moment by moment, and although it gets close, it is no The Dark Knight to reign supreme at the top of film in 2008. Still, The Clone Wars is a complete attack on the senses. The Star Wars brand stays true to taking a character from the original and drawing a line from them to the new movie directly as the main focus of the plot. It does everything The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi does with turning and painting original scenes, feelings, and nostalgic moments and recreating them in the new series. The prequels carried themselves, but Clone Wars does the same thing episodes 7 and 8 do. The sudden placement of watching a cartoon directly in Star Wars battle can take one out of understanding the entire movie, so I recommend watching this with subtitles, but be sure to absorb the subtitles and everything else going on. 97/100 ^^ and here is a little video from the description of the intro above ^^
  7. hey derby people, there is a list due in a few days on Friday covering 2008 movies. I think the average person can put together a list of 20-30 2008 films. Anyone want to revisit The Dark Knight and find out of it is #1. Can you make it unanimous? The ultimate roadmap of 210 movies is also posted above where you can select from. Can this section of the internet on BOT represent some of the more random assortment of list of films? 8. Here is another one FYC: I wrote a little summary around the first 30 minutes too. Star Wars: Clone Wars has the best introduction titles outside of the cannon. 9. I think the book jumped from past to present by chapter through 40 or so chapters. Not sure what timeline had more of an impact on the overall story. The balloons in the first movie seemed CGI where they shouldn't have been, but the adult portion in the sequel should have the most CGI anyways. I doubt they will go into the mythos of the story. The ending of the first movie made it hard to see a transition from that ending to how the second film-to-book should end.
  10. Valerian and a City of a Thousand Planets has potential to be greater than The Fifth Element IMO
  11. If Searching expands, I would up my prediction to 3.5 from 3.15. The Nun will be looking at full capacity at the twilight showings. I'm assuming Searching reached that limit this week, and it might hit the film harder than expected.
  12. ridiculous ultimate predictions...(but the weekday total fill-ins were eye-balled and could have up to 25% disparity) (-67%) - 0.45 - 6.41 - A.X.L. (-67%) - 0.50 - 415.99 - Jurassic World 2 (-70%) - 0.54 - 29.44 - Slender Man (-62%) - 0.55 - 101.61 - Equalizer 2 (-50%) - 0.63 - 119.17 - Mamma Mia 2 (-50%) - 0.70 - 214.99 - Ant Man 2 (-51%) - 1.06 - 164.31 - Hotel Tran 3 (-56%) - 1.35 - 5.75 - Kin (-59%) - 1.39 - 604.75 - Incredibles 2 (-58%) - 1.60 - 35.50 - Mile 22 (-54%) - 2.00 - 20.90 - Happytime Murders (-53%) - 2.15 - 32.01 - Alpha (new) - 2.32 - 2.50 - God Bless the Broken Road (-35%) - 2.75 - 43.75 - Black Klansman (-43%) - 3.00 - 91.70 - Christopher Robin (-48%) - 3.15 - 12.64 - Searching (-46%) - 3.27 - 14.72 - Operation Finale (-50%) - 3.50 - 212.16 - Mission Impossible 6 (-53%) - 5.00 - 131.10 - The Meg (new) - 9.73 - 10.50 - Peppermint (-32%) - 14.90 - 138.90 - Crazy Rich Asians (new) - 39.60 - 43.00 - The Nun
  13. well I hope the millions of new 'It' fans power through the book. However, I expect the second movie to be a completely different spin from the back half of the story.
  14. as a hot tentpole sitting at the beginning of October, good thing this has two weekends to itself before 'Halloween H40' opens. That is two weekends to get above 30 million. Goosebumps 2, First Man, and Bad Times at the El Royale open against Venom's second weekend.
  15. PG-13 cut-down Venom? I hope it isn't a mess, but is still warmly welcomed enough to warrant 'A' cinemascore. Has there ever been pent-up anticipation for a villain movie before? I remember people went wild for Jared Leto's Joker a few years ago during the 3 months of constant trailers before SS opened.
  16. build Pandora around you so when Avatar 2 opens, people can visit you at home. It would be tough to swallow having Quaritch as a new Vader. I'm predict Quaritch would have to eventually flip Jake Sully by revealing himself to be his father, then telling him he must destroy Pandora so Earth can live on.
  17. Wondering if this one will take a different creative direction and end up divisive but still making like 80 OW / 200 DOM domestic, and ward of franchise potential. Kind of like The Mummy took a creative spin. Alita: Battle Angel could do the same and limp to 200 million and be hailed as a flop.
  18. Magnolia (Studio) hit huge with RBG. It is now Magnolia's #1 film with almost 14 million, #2 is 7 million. - they seem to make 20 movies/year lol @ the bit about It Comes at Night bringing 'unhappy customers' I would pay to see it but sit outside the theater and request first response opinions Slender Man (D-) cinemascore and 5 million away from 3.0 OW multiplier. it probably wont get there but it might get within range as long as The Nun does not completely consume/absorb its audience. Mission Impossible 7 looks promising given the goodwill off of Fallout, Rogue Nation, and Ghost Protocol pushing the franchise in a newer and fresher direction after the Mi3 uncertainty.
  19. quickly wrote down some 9am reserved seating #s 0 - Kin 1 - Kin 8 - Operation 0 - A.X.L. 0 - Happy 8 - Alpha 3 - Alpha 49 - Crazy 19 - Crazy 8 - Meg 14 - Meg 19 - Pooh 4 - Pooh 11 - Hotel 3
