  1. In other news, Central Intelligence is the highest grossing comedy of the year with over 200m WW. http://variety.com/2016/film/news/kevin-hart-dwayne-johnsons-central-intelligence-box-office-1201826614/ Dwayne Johnson is the biggest draw after Leo Dicaprio in Hollywood right now, yes higher than Chris Pratt. CHris Pratt is getting his first real test with Mag 7 and Passengers this year.
  2. I think 100-105m is a reasonable prediction for this. September's biggest opener is Hotel Transylvania 2, i dont think a Westerner is going to break that record. If reviews/WOM is good it could probably leg it out to 115m-120m but Girl on The Train, Sully, The Accountant,Deepwater Horizon and probably a few Oscar contenders like Birth of a Nation will take a chunk out of it's mostly adult audience.
  3. Mag 7 is being overpredicted, westerns generally don't do that well. Because of the cast i see it going over 100m but barely.
  4. This is a pretty good weekend. July ending on a strong note. Bad Moms is likely headed to 100m+ Nerve probably 30-35m (no one would have predicted that at the start of the week) Bourne depending on legs could get between 160 to 180m
  5. Pokemon Go blowing up probably helped Nerve with it's target teen audience. Now it's probably going to make a decent amount instead of totally flopping.
  6. A few of those films won't make their release dates and Im sure a few will bomb. So it doesn't look that huge.
  7. If Uncharted had Chris Pratt then I would agree, but he opted out of early talks.
  8. Sony wanted Margot Robbie last i heard. But yeah that is probably going to move if they dont get started filming now. Bad Boys 3 and Uncharted will likely move as well.
  9. I would say it's close. GOTG 2 is likely going to be the only 300m+ grossing film. POTC 5 will be lucky to make 200m. I don't see anything else hitting 100m except possibly Baywatch. Just like this year, March/April 2017 is going to kick off the summer season with two 300m+ hits (Beauty and the Beast, Fast 8) Wolverine 3 and Kong Skull Island could combine to make over 300m+ as well.

  11. Those films did not have to contend with Star Wars. Rogue one will take a lot of the attention away and should make at least 300m. Sing will be the family movie of December , should do at least 150m. Stars aren't the main attraction for films anymore, Sony has to really sell Passengers and they don't have the best marketing team. I think 130m is a safe prediction because the holidays will help it out. If it gets Oscar's attention then I'll up that number. Assassin's Creed will be lucky to make 50m.
  12. Maybe they're waiting until after it's officially announced at Venice Film Festival and probably Toronto Film Festival. Both of which are revealing their line ups next week. I know sometimes trailers are released for awards type films after these festival premieres.
  13. Is it? March 2017 is pretty packed right now. March 3- Wolverine 3, The Shack March 10- Kong: Skull Island March 17- Beauty and the Beast, Baby Driver March 24- King Arthur, Life, Power Rangers March 31- The Boss Baby, Ghost in the Shell, The Zookeeper's Wife
  14. Wonder Woman, Dunkirk, King Arthur, Kong:Skull Island?
  15. Average numbers all around. The only real over performer looks like Lights Out. The next horror film(Don't Breathe) comes out at the end of August, so it has time to make all of its money. Next weekend Bad Moms is the one to watch out for, an undeserved audience (25+ females) will probably come out in full force.
  16. Atleast Sony has been smart with their budgets, not losing money, the only film i think they overspent on was Ghostbusters. Looks like Deadpool and Kung Fu Panda really saved Fox this year, because they look mediocre outside of those two films. A cool down year for Universal, but they aren't losing huge amounts of money so it's ok.
  17. Theater counts for next week: Jason Bourne(Uni) 3900+ Bad Moms(STX) 3000 Nerve(Lions) 2600 The Land (IFC) 2 http://www.boxofficemojo.com/counts/chart/?yr=2016&wk=31&sort=theaters&order=DESC&p=.htm
