  1. Fox used the exact same marketing plan for Paper Towns that they used for TFIOS and that was their mistake because TFIOS could've been even bigger had they marketed it like beyond the core fanbase but TFIOS did really well anyway because the book was huge. Paper Towns wasn't huge on its own and they got lazy and this is the result of that. Surprised Cara couldn't bring in more though because she has a very large teenage girl fanbase.
  2. Yeah, that can't be a good number. It's so close to Magic Mike's number and isn't Terminator PG-13? School's out so...
  3. I don't think Dope is set in the 90s, I think it just has a 90s aesthetic. Dope namechecks Donald Glover.
  4. I just saw Insurgent and I'm pretty confident that the only thing Allegiant will keep from the book is the ending because the Insurgent movie made a lot of changes so I'm not even sure what Allegiant will be about at this point... and I'm totally fine with that.
  5. HA this is such a good post. Anyway, I'm seeing this Sunday with family but I refuse to pay for 3D.
  6. I did noooot like this at all, like not even a little bit? It was all very surface and not much else. Cooper tried his best with what he was given but meh. I would give it like half a point for amusing me with the fake baby.
  7. Basically this. This film is so so so so so good and so incredibly important right now. I can't believe it's not winning every single thing it's been up for so far and I also can't believe it hasn't been up for more. Paramount sucks for screwing it, screeners wise but the award bodies suck too for not going to a theater to see it... You work in the industry yet you don't support the industry and then you complain about how poorly it's doing. BUT ANYWAY, Selma: Fantastic direction, fantastic cast, fantastic everything IMO.
  8. Yeah, but in the book the parents of the teens acknowledge that and say something about how weird their kids are. It works on the page and thanks to good acting it works in the movie too.
  9. Schools here are in until basically the end of the month but they also start school in the middle of September and we had a lot of closings due to weather so they have to make those up.
  10. Pretty much, Fandango said in their presale report that it didn't include movies like Twilight because it's in a different category. The only thing the two have in common are that they're both YA adaptations. Anyway, if Fault hits 50M this weekend that'd be really great. Either way though it's a success for Fox since it didn't cost much to make.
  11. I misread what he was saying, I read it as like were all these showings $25, my bad!
  12. Nope, the $25 shows were earlier in the night and all happened at the same time because of the simulcast afterwards. They were at 8:30 here and I'm on the east coast but 9PM shows onward were regular preview shows.
  13. The $25 showings definitely helped but not every showing last night was $25.
  14. I would be very very very shocked if that ended up happening... talk about frontloading.
  15. Stop. I saw both movies, have you even seen The Other Woman or been in a theater where it was screening? You sound ridiculous.
  16. Isn't the huge OS rollout this weekend? What markets has it been released in already?ETA: I saw the release dates, they must be expecting a lot from European countries this weekend?
  17. It's 125M but but yeah, I still think they're going to be fine profits wise.
  18. This was the only thing I could find about it. http://www.thewrap.com/divergent-tracking-50-million-box-office-opening/ "It has an $85 million production budget and marketing will likely run another $40 million, but pre-sales of foreign rights have already brought in roughly $65 million."
  19. This book was so great, can't wait to see what they do with it.
