    You know the box office was good when non-box office people are talking about it. My boyfriend - someone who knows literally nothing about box office - just text me saying “Barbie has already made $155m!!!!”. Then I told him that was just US/Canada and he replied “oh god”.

    Overall weekend gross should be pretty high as well considering there’s about $31m between Barbenheimer

    I was so disappointed that I couldn’t see it in IMAX. I nearly convinced the bf to go to Melbourne for a weekend.. sadly couldn’t get away with that.

    Do we know when it’s opening? Latest I’ve seen is “late 2023”, but nothing concrete. Whatever happened to the IMAX at Entertainment Quarter?

    Actual insanity. Just goes to show people trust the Nolan brand and are willing to wait to do it as intended.

    Hit and miss. They’re good, but not exactly memorable against IMAX.

    What’s the likelihood of $20m for Barbie? Surely Sunday can’t fall too much from yesterday?

    If we flip those numbers and they come true, Endgame Sat/Sun records go down. Could. You. Imagine.

    Barbie is already selling really well into next weekend at my local (Event George St). Yes, I realise it’s one of the largest, but this far ahead is incredible.

    To me, this says more about general affordability of/accessibility to purchasing tickets, and doing so regularly. It’s become absurdly expensive to go to the cinema these days, so I don't know how families do it. As an example, my partner and I went to the movies on discount Tuesday and got a drink and popcorn to share - that night still cost us about $50. Consider that in the context of a family who are almost forced to go on weekends, the price skyrockets.

    Watched the 5.40pm Barbie session at George St tonight. Packed. Great crowd reaction. Even had an applause from a decent number of people at the end (which isn’t something I’ve seen since Avatar 09). I’m on the fence. Unsure if WOM is going to be good.

    I know it’s probably Endgame OW, but do we have figures on the biggest OW Saturday and Sunday grosses? Could Barbie get close to those?

    This. The thing that’s surprised me most is just how quick they sold out. We’re in for something incredible I think.

    You actually can’t escape Barbie here, and it’s appealing to all ages. Everyone I speak to is interested. I’m (cautiously) optimistic about a $15m OW. Higher would not surprise me at all. Sales in my area are massive. Side note, I had a Barbie themed birthday party on the weekend and honestly the greatest theme I’ve ever done 😂
