  1. Ah that’s totally fair. It’s a shame independents will miss out on sales because of 3D
  2. I would do exactly the same. But also where do you live for there to not be a 3D showing?!
  3. TODAY IS THE DAY! 11.5 HOURS TO GO. I actually cannot believe the day has come.
  4. I honestly don’t even know of anything else playing. And it will absolutely play to younger kids as well - my session of the rerelease was majority families with kids who look like they weren’t even born in 2009.
  5. Very keen to see how pre-sales go today and tomorrow ahead of Wednesday previews/Thursday OD. 55 hours until my session 😬😬😬
  6. Ok so my final OW prediction for TWOW is $26.3m. That said, I will only be disappointed with anything less than $20m, which I really can’t see happening give Avatar opened with $12m+ in 2009.
  7. I think the late evening sessions will be the surprise here and possibly keep the numbers a little higher than first thought. I was quite sceptical about how well the 9pm/10pm sessions would sell given they mean a 1am/2am finish time, especially on weekdays. 10pm 4DX on OD at my local is nearly sold out.
  8. What I would love to know is the 3D:2D ratio after OW. Looking at the cinema I’m going to on Wednesday - Event Cinemas George Street - 2D just isn’t really a consideration for people. I’m watching the 6pm VMAX 3D which is close to full. The 6pm 2D session has only sold 12 tickets. Are cinemas wasting screens putting in 2D sessions for possibly “the 3D film”?
  9. I’m more on board with 190m OW than I am $1B DOM. I’m still unsure as to how this will play out. I’m going min $700 DOM though.
  10. So… over or under AU$25m OW? I’m going over, probably closer to $30m.
  11. Out of curiosity - and has probably been asked a thousand times sorry - what does Avatar’s OW adjust to in 2022 $$? I’m trying to come up with an OW range for the TWOW, but $150m almost seems too low given the original opened to $77m 13 years ago. I know it’s the runtime and time of year, but my early thoughts are something in the $170-190m range.
  12. This is great! Do you have any comparisons for other big openers?
  13. It’s been a hot minute since I’ve posted, but all this Avatar hype has got me really excited to see what’s coming! It’s bringing back memories from 2009/2010 and watching Avatar just surpass even the wildest of expectations, like “$500m seems possible at this point”. Bring on Dec 16 - I will be glued to my phone for the next couple of months 😬
  14. Bought my tickets yesterday for 6pm on the 14th. I cannot believe it’s been 13 years and we’re now less than 3 weeks away from release I remember following Avatar’s insane run back on the original forum like it was yesterday!
  15. 90m with a reeeeally solid weekend figure.. Is it actually going to happen?
  16. How many screens does that leave them with? You're absolutely right though. Liverpool definitely needs an upgrade 😬
  17. A touch over $79m as at close of play Wednesday.
