  1. MT 1. I2 - 57.9% 2. JWFK - 17.4% 3. O8 - 4.6% 4. Tag - 4% 5. DP2 - 2.2% Still quite a gap for JW to close
  2. I don’t think it’s inflation. I think the market is shifting where people are demanding certain kinds of movies in theaters while getting the rest from streaming. Its a top heavy market where the big, experience oriented franchise films still sell tickets whereas most midbudget films have more difficulty as there’s no benefit to seeing them in theaters, and in fact it’s relatively cheaper to stream them.
  3. That;s an insane purchasing price, but I could see it being a selling factor for their streaming service.
  4. I might even do this deal, considering a new AMC opened up near me with Dolby. It's a bit expensive compared to the other theaters, but it's nice, and this plan would cover that. I just don't want to have to commit to a singular chain.
  5. If anything, I was actually expecting a more muted Tuesday increase? Simply because of how large business already was.
  6. That’s actually a pretty good deal, especially since you can get Dolby. Plus, you don’t have to worry about AMC going under like MP
  7. You also have to remember that it’s a much bigger number than either of those two. There gets to a point where if a movie is selling out theaters anyways, cheap Tuesday will have a smaller effect, and in cases like IW, a negative one.
  8. There’s a section in this where Elastigirl and Mr Incredible argue about the illegality of superheroes and I found that bit actually fairly timely, given the argument was should an unjust law still be respected, despite being unjust. Theres arguments over the exact same thing, only instead of superheros, it’s immigrants. Idk how intentional of a parallel that is, but it’s there. There’s certainly other issues that the bit could parallel to, but that’s the one that came to mind. It managed to cover a lot of the major points people actually argue about. Such as “Well, it’s illegal so it’s wrong!”, and “But the law’s not right, so why should we be teaching our kids to follow something that isn’t right?” It’s nice too that the movie ended up siding with the latter argument.
  9. When you're 9 kills, 1 knock and counting in Fornite and then get caught by the storm
  10. But, GOTG has the second best screenplay of the MCU (BP has the best)
  11. RDJ got a supporting nod that year, and if any pre ouster MCU film would have gotten a screenplay nod it would have been GOTG as that one got the WGA nom.
  12. To be fair, pre permutter ouster there weren’t really any MCU movies that were going to get anymore than 1 or 2 technical noms anyways.
  13. I definitely think it’s the most mainstream of A24s horror films yet. Im just judging by some of crowds reaction to the movie, which I guess was pretty anecdotal of me. It seemed like some people really weren’t responding well to the ending
  14. I’m happy it’s doing well, I’m just honestly surprised that it’s having decent WoM.
  15. That was about a month out I believe, which I believe JWFK was given something like that a month before now.
  16. Maybe because The Incredibles is a cartoon that does body type caricatures as it’s a stylized take of using stereotypical superhero ideas and then humanizing them by putting them in a family.
  17. Didn’t Solo’s tracking drop to around 135m this time around too?
  18. Eh, I don’t think when people mention that CBMs will eventually fade they mean there’ll never be anymore of them. Even if we look at previous niche genre fads like Musicals, Disasters or Westerns they all still have entries. Westerns have some life through being infused into other genres, such as with Logan or Solo (or in the TV realm, Westworld). Disaster movies still have some hits and entries every year or so. Musicals also still have some films each year.
  19. I think it’s silly to think comic book movies will never fade, but it may be a while before something else usurps them in popularity
  20. Also, because I2 skews to Older than other Pixar, I think we could see larger Fri/Sat increases than say, Dory
  21. I think you’re being pessimistic about how high its weekend can go, but we’ll wait and see
  22. 24.1m is a really good Monday, especially considering that strong FD.
  23. I think anything under a 20m Monday would be bad, 21-24 would be fine/good, anything above 24 would be really good.
  24. Dory fell 43.5% on its first Monday, give I2 a little bit higher of a drop due to having a larger FD boost and it's a 28.65m Monday. EDIT: Corrected, I forgot to subtract getting a lower number.
