Thursday #s: TLJ 17.8M, Jumanji 7.55M, TGS 2.1M

Oh no, I wonder if that has something to do with a different calendar?? Nah, TLJ is obviously a divisive movie everyone's hating and it'll be out of theaters by next week. -

Shouldn't it be a no brainer that TLJ will lose screens its second weekend? It's obviously not going to be pulling 220m OW sized audiences it's second weekend to warrant the movie taking up the majority of the screens. Add to that how many movies are playing this Christmas, which many theaters are contractually obligated to give a screen, and the fact they already cleared many of their holdovers last week, complaining that TLJ is losing screens is rather silly. It shouldn't take Empire or Rth to point that out to you. -

18.1m definitely puts TLJ back on a decent track. If Friday and Saturday are strong and it can minimize its Eve drop, the rest of the holidays are good to it. -
Ready Player One seems like a cool movie idea visually, but the plotline sounds like a snooze if I were reading it in a novel.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017)
The Panda replied to baumer's topic in Review That Movie! (Spoilers Allowed)
I think I'll have it a little under Empire Strikes Back for now. It's just really hard to beat that movie. Regardless, the fact that it's a week from release and I like it this much says a lot. The movie was a lot to take in my first viewing, but once I took it all in and watched it again it was evident how brilliant of a movie Johnson made. -
But the real question is, arent there only three Nolan movies worth seeing?

Also, TLJ definitely gets better with repeat viewings. There's so many well thought out details to appreciate. -

But you see EmpireCity, TLJ has a ROTTEN Flixter score. Nothing else matters! It's the biggest flop of them all! -

That's good, you gotta see it before Christmas Day because by that point theaters will be pulling it to show All the Money in the World! -

Seeing Star Wars again today, I have to pick up slack for all the GA asking for refunds! -

Given the toxic WoM, I reckon the rest of the week will look like this! Fri: 14m (-20%) Sat: 9.8m (-30%) Sun: 2m (-80%) Mon: 2.2m (+0.1%) Tues: -1.5m (-150%) Wed: -16.5m (-1000%) Thu: -841.5m (-50000%) Fri: Disney Pulls it from theaters in fear of losing more money from refunds DOM Total: -553.5m!- 508 replies

Nah, the Oscars aren't cool enough to give any notice to A Ghost Story. It's definitely arthouse given its minimal dialogue (minus a random monologue that doesn't really fit in the movie)

Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017)
The Panda replied to baumer's topic in Review That Movie! (Spoilers Allowed)
Upon more viewings, TLJ could even move up past Empire 1. The Empire Strikes Back - A+ 2. The Last Jedi - A+ 3. The Force Awakens - A+ 4. A New Hope - A+ 5. Return of the Jedi - A+ 6. Revenge of the Sith - A- 7. Rogue One - A- 8. Attack of the Clones - B- 9. The Phantom Menace - C+ -
It's just not on the Oscar shortlist, probably from not being submitted. Which is sad because either it or Remember Me are the best original movie songs from this year.

17.5m wouldn't be a great increase from Wednesday, hopefully it can go up from there. -
Should "I Get Overwhelmed" from A Ghost Story be eligible for Best Original Song at the Boffys? It technically premiered in A Ghost Story before Dark Rooms released their album featuring the song.

Not getting a nomination, but a beautiful score nonetheless (and effective for the film)

This movie's definitely an experience to take in at its whole. There's a lot of meat to it, but it does draw out some of the scenes a bit to long (despite the beautiful shots it creates). However, I do think the dragging added extra commentary to this eternal nature of an afterlife, and the feeling one would have to actually be a ghost stuck in one location. It's definitely a movie that makes you feel, and you don't know quite why or what you're feeling, but you are feeling something. Provocative, creative and sad.

I'm possibly considering Gal Gadot's Justice League performance over her Wonder Woman performance
-
Better, it's a horserace between Superman's stache and this guy right here
-
I still need to see a few more movies (SoW, Darkest Hour, Wind River, Good Time, plus a few others) but I have a feeling some of my Bamboo Awards choices might raise a few eyes here
-
Also, I think it's Soundtrack is #2 for the year, right behind Baby Driver's.
