  1. I dont buy the "this actor is box office poison" thing, unless it's a pretty hated actor. Nobody is going to not go see a movie because x actor is in the movie, they'll not go see it because it looks bad. Usually in the "box office poison" cases it's the actor not being able to secure good roles, or them having a sucky manager who's bad at picking movies for them.
  2. A little half-way mark to the deadline update (all of this is obviously going to change as lists vary for each member) 648 different individual movies have been submitted so far in the counting Only 78 movies currently have 10 points or more as of right now. This will surely change, but that means everyone who's submitted a list currently has their #1 in the top 100. This will likely change as more lists are submitted. The current #1 movie (by a decent margin) is a film that has never been ranked as the #1 film before. Currently the highest ranked animated film is not a Disney or Pixar movie. Only three of the movies in the top 10 right now were released after the year 2000. 7 in the top 25 were released after the year 2000. And 14 in the top 50 were released after the year 2000. Marvel is, currently, completely absent from the list.
  3. Zootopia could potentially stay in the top 5 until Angry Birds. Given that the only holiday its had in its release was Easter, it has the best legs of a blockbuster in recent memory. It's not just a few good holds, it's very consistent with its drops. Even Frozen had the massive benefit of having the winter holidays to boost its legs.
  4. I can see, that'd be 10 300m films. Star Wars: Rogue One - 550m Finding Dory - 500m Captain America: Civil War - 450m Deadpool - 360m Moana - 350m Zootopia - 335m The Jungle Book - 330m Batman v Superman - 325m Suicide Squad - 315m Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them - 300m / Some other major breakout
  5. I'd think a mid 40% drop next weekend (as this one is a recovery weekend for it), and 55-65% drop after that when Civil War brings down the thunder.
  6. A Deadpool Zootopia B 10 Cloverfield Lane Hail, Caesar The Jungle Book C Miracles From Heaven Hardcore Henry Risen D Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Dirty Grandpa The Divergent Series: Allegiant God's Not Dead 2 Jane Got a Gun London Has Fallen F The Choice Norm of the North Z 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Bengazi
  7. Not a true guarantee but with a sub-40% drop off of a 103m OW, another weekend to itself, and then benefiting from Double Features from Cap, Id be surprised if it didn't at this point.
  8. If I would have even mentioned the idea of The Jungle Book and Zootopia over BVS prior to March I likely would have gotten the forum equivalent of a stoning.
  9. This category keeps getting more and more competitive. Lots of potentially visually great movies coming out this year.
  10. Depends on the theater I go to. The cheaper one is 5-7.50, the better more expensive one is 7 for matinee and 9 for evening. If I go to some high end one probably 10-12
  11. El Coco would be a better title, but too many of the ignorant American population would assume it was a Spanish film and not go see it.
  12. To be fair, all of those were terrible movies anyways.
  13. I'm thanking everyone in advance who is putting Casablanca and It's a Wonderful Life on their lists, because I love both and my mind completely blanked about including them on my hasty list. I'm also too lazy to go back and edit my list as I already scored mine.
  14. Not terrible, especially after a great Tues, I set my expectations too high probably Wed: 5.7m Thu: 6.1m Fri: 16.2m Sat: 27.5m Sun: 19.2m WKND: 62.9m (-38.9%)
  15. EDIT: No Acronyms for your lists please. If it is not clear what the movie is, it will not get scored. That includes something like DH1, for all I know you might have been trying to say Die Hard 1 (why the 1, idk, but the possibility is there). There's too many movies for that, so if you're too lazy to write out the title, I am going to be to lazy to score the list.
  16. As I am going to be adding lists as they're posted here is my request, You (of course) may make changes to your list until the deadline if you wish. But if you do, be sure to pm me the exact changes otherwise there is a chance I may not see them. If you put in your post that your list is incomplete/work in progress/joke list, then I did not add it currently. This is simply for my sake as trying to sort through thousands of movies that people ranked all at once would be a bit too strenuous, so I am taking it in chunks and getting a head start so I can get the list out timely.
  17. These are the nominations The Birth of a Nation The BFG Captain America: Civil War Deadpool The Jungle Book Passengers Silence Star Wars: Rogue One The Story of Your Life Zootopia
  18. I hope Lin-Manuel Miranda pulls it off. An Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony, and Pulitzer Prize winner at the age of 36. The guy is no one hit wonder, he's a genius librettist, a great contemporary composer, and a fantastic actor. As as for my nom predicts Zootopia Moana Finding Dory Kubo Little Prince
  19. The Jungle Book Story of Your Life Doctor Strange Billy Lynn Rogue One I think TJB is likely taking this home.
  20. I'm legitimately anticipating this countdown for four reasons. 1.I care about the forums tastes in cinema and Yada Yada. 2.If today is any indication of how wildly entertaining people will be during the countdown, this will be fun. 3.Vacation time! 4.Likes, I'll get lots of likes.... I mean I'll very much like to see how the rankings differentiate from the last few times.
  21. Don't blame me, I was careful to put movies from a variety of decades on my list.
