  1. Agreed. Now i don't expect it to come close to the first one money wise but that's okay. It'll still make a boatload of cash. Avatar sequels never will be "in trouble". They are going to be huge.
  2. I've heard similar phrases in regards to IMAX, that "the picture is so vivid that it appears 3D". At the end of the day, it's a flat image.
  3. As far as i remember DOS still hadn't opened in Japan. And China of course. BOFA only has the latter left. While it's only $13m DOS did in Japan, it's still something.
  4. It's such a bummer, especially after reading how it outopened DOS in USD pretty much everywhere. I guess, legs are worse. Stupid exchange rates...
  5. Sorry but that sounds like marketing speak. 2D remains 2D, no matter what you do, it's never going to come close to actual 3D, because there's no depth information for your brain. As for brighter, i'm pretty sure that's more due to the laser projection. Jackson tweaked the color grading to make it look more filmic, whatever that means. That didn't sway people that find the smoother movement unnatural (ironic, since it's rather more natural) - that's the main problem for them. And that won't change, whether PJ or Cameron is behind the camera, it's inherent in HFR.
  6. As did 48fps / 60fps when Cameron demoed it. Yet in the Hobbit many apparently didn't like it. It's like "wow, looks cool but i don't want it in my movies". You hit diminishing returns with 120fps. I doubt the difference between it and 60fps is easy to spot and i doubt even more that people that don't like 60fps or 48fps will like 120fps. It's simple, people like the stuttering, they associate it with cinematic. It's all they ever knew. Only long exposure to new, modern technics will slowly change that, if not this generation, then next, when young, more open people, become adults themselves.
  7. BOM says "as of Dec 26". That can't include Friday, can it? That would be horrible. Might not even hit $400m this weekend.
  8. DOS had problems reaching $700m so i dunno if i would classify doing equal as good. Yes, i know about exchange rates. Maybe under these circumstances, it's pretty good. Meh, i hate being dependent on one country for the $1b, especially if it's as fickle as China.
  9. I was talking about the script for Trek 3 and my point was that it wasn't Orci that mainly wrote it.
  10. They talk about the Orci script but wasn't there two other guys that mainly wrote the script? I think it's how it was...
  11. People are more restraint in Europe in general. Never had clapping at the end of a movie with the excection of one time, a preview screening of Titanic.
  12. Prometheus was Lindelof. I kinda agree but i feel there's a lot of that in the TV shows as well. Quality is very subjective. But the fact of the matter is at least the first Trek seemed to have been loved by everyone and their mothers. I dunno if saying Trek was good despite Orci is entirely fair.
  13. That's what i'm saying. Christmas Day is much bigger compared to other days during BOFA's run relative to what was the case with ROTK. Also, BOFA having better drops / increases is not true for every day. Sunday and Monday come to mind.
  14. That's not the reason ROTK increased 37% on this Friday. It's because Christmas Day was comparatively weaker.
  15. Because Christmas Day seems to have been a lot stronger. It will balance out. With a $15m Friday it should make close to $40m for the weekend.
  16. BOFA will hardly increase anywhere near ROTK's 37% on Friday. Hopefully it's about $15m on Friday, which would be very good.
  17. Should he be given the benefit of the doubt? That maybe he is not a horrible person? The answer is yes.
  18. Well, the internet is a cesspool of hate and evil. That comment was taken out of context. Who knows how much shit he got from that user. But when a celebrity dares to say something back he/she is like the worst person on the planet. Like i said, he shouldn't have replied, best to say nothing if something gets to you, best to stay away from the internet for one's sanity.
  19. Puny Canada represents like 10% of NA box office. It probably won't decrease but the increase should be tiny.
