  1. Well, it needs $170m from China so it better opens to about $75m...
  2. I thought it's ticket sales relative to other movies. Makes more sense now.
  3. But they track more theaters than last year. Basically, we don't really know what the numbers mean.
  4. By now it's clear it won't hit $850m with current markets, more like $830m. It would need $170m from China. Any transformers in Hobbit i do not know of? Nope. An actor or director coming to China won't make that much of a difference.
  5. While the weekend itself was comparable to DOS', for some reason it made quite a bit less during the whole week. I don't get it. The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies weekend 1: $122.1 million [37 markets] / $122.1 million weekend 2: $109 million [59 markets] ($269 million) / $358.1 million weekend 3: $89.2 million [62 markets] ($405.1 million) / $573.6 million weekend 4: $54 million [65 markets] ($504.6 million) / $725.2 million weekend 5: $21.8 million [???] ($545.3 million) / $781.8 million weekend 6: $9.8 million [62 markets] ($558.6 million) / $803.1 million The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug weekend 1: $135.4 million [49 markets] / $209 million weekend 2: $97.4 million [56 markets] ($278.4 million) / $406 million weekend 3: $99.7 million [62 markets] ($424.8 million) / $616.1 million weekend 4: $58 million [64 markets] ($527 million) / $756.6 million weekend 5: $22.2 million [62 markets] ($566 million) / $802.8 million weekend 6: $10.9 million [???] ($585 million) / $833.7 million weekend 7: $5.6 million [???] ($595 million) / $847.3 million weekend 8: $2.7 million [???] ($600 million) / $854.3 million weekend 9: ??? 6. If people need to ask they don't seem to be doing a good job promoting it.
  7. Don't turn it into something it's not. My point was just how little i had it on my radar and that one review i happen to read by chance didn't exactly encourage me to have it on my radar.
  8. All i know about AS is a scathing review i read on slash film a while back. I haven't been wasting any thought on it since. And here we are now, it doing gangbusters. Good for it, i guess.
  9. But almost everything did at least close to 40%, even Taken 3's first tuesday.
  10. No. The audience connected to the characters. Movies don't make these insane amounts just with eye candy. It's funny that Cameron always gets these dectractors, these same people that put movies like Avengers on a pedestal, shallow action spectacles.
  11. Increasing up to 50% on tuesday is NOT normal.
  12. Seems not like a normal tuesday, increases are huge in some cases.
  13. FOTR was just immensely popular in some parts of Europe especially. Sort of a small phenomenon. Tough to follow that up.
  14. Eh, this is really all i wanted to say. It's so long since i watched it, forgot a lot. I'd love me a bluray rerelease with improved SFX because damn they were rough, especially in season 1. Too bad it's likely never gonna happen. Okay, enough off-topic.
  15. Their relationship was surely a strong point of the show. G'Kar and Molari, the archenemies, yet they developed some kind of mutual respect for each other.
  16. Agreed. The baddies, the shadows or what they were called, with their screeching ships, the mystery surrounding them... such cool concept. Straczynski took a lot of inspiration from Tolkien.
  17. As far as i know the main reason for that is the strong USD (except for Russia, where the Ruble is on a downward spirale due to economic crysis) so it should be having an effect everywhere (to varying degree).
