    Agreed. Baumer laughed in my face for suggesting Expendables 2 might make less than the first in North America. If that isn't a douche move i dunno what is. It hurt my feelings. I needed a few days to recover.

    It is not an exceptional situation, the exchange rates are still as good if not better in many markets.TPM was also a prequel.

    Awards didn't help ROTK all that much. Again, this is not an indie movie that needs awards to put it on the map. The finale factor had some impact, i guess. One big reason for the jump were the exchange rates. FOTR and TTT did $550m+ OS, btw.

    That is not true at all. There was one poster predicting close to $2b. One. (as far as i know)Beating TA worldwide was seen as a possibility by some, myself included. Beating it domestically - no chance.

    Awards mean pretty much squat. It's not an indie movie. Legs kicked in long before Oscar nominations were announced for FOTR. It's the WOM that always counts.

    I disagree. More time spent with the characters is time spent knowing them. Look how much time Aliens took till the action started. People have no patience.

    Yes. Why wouldn't it? It's still a prequel and somewhat frontloaded. I dunno, depends on how many people have the day off on friday and monday. I have no clue, i don't live in the US or Canada.

    Tron was not a prequel, it was basically a new property. So we'll see...

    The whole part in the Shire was the best part about the movie. Character moments - something the movie lacked in the 2nd half, unfortunately. Hopefully the extended edition will not have just more action.

    I would have preferred more "bloat" in the form of character moments.
