  1. Arnold has won a Golden Globe for best acting debut and has been nominated for a Golden Globe for Junior.
  2. I damn well cared when the T-800 lowered himself into the molten steel to destroy himself. Because i was invested in him.Had Sly played a robot that doesn't age two decades ago he wouldn't be able to play it anymore either (T3 was already borderline).I wouldn't say Sly can act. Can he act better than Arnold? Yes.Like it has been pointed out, Arnold worked with the much better directors.
  3. Not in the same league. Terminator 2 is one of my favorite movies ever. Rocky and Rambo are okay.
  4. Arnold, easily. Just the two Terminators trump everything Stallone has done by a mile. Then you still have Predator, True Lies, Total Recall etc.
  5. Shows what's possible if the right movie comes along, even for a market in recession.
  6. This seems to be a recent development. Have they figured out Hollywood movies make too much money?
  7. The way i see it, 2001 and to a slightly smaller extent 2002 were the two outliers. As Rudolf suggested, it's not due people just wanting to spent more time in theaters for random reasons but LOTR, HP and Bulli. The most recent spike was in 2009, the year of Avatar. True, admissions in the last 7 years (except 2009) are down compared to the 7 years prior on average by about 15% but again, it could be just that the right movies weren't around, Bulli and HP lost their luster, no LOTR around.
  8. 2009 had Avatar. See what i'm getting at? With the right movies, people will come.
  9. Can you provide some statistics here? What was the total viewership in the years 2001-2003, what is it now (2011)? I wanna see some numbers, not just words.
  10. That's why it'll drop to about Intouchables levels. ;)Fellowship wasn't as epic either as the rest of them and got the most admissions.Okay, i'll drop the disappointment threshold to bellow 7 million. Don't wanna be too greedy, do we?
  11. If it doesn't match Intouchables i'll be disappointed. FOTR had frigging 11m admissions. Intouchables... what... 8m?
  12. Yeah, yeah, i know, the big exception. Everything else besides Intouchables.
  13. I'm ashamed to be German. It's like they only go to cartoons, nothing else makes a dent.
  14. Pirates 2. TDK isn't far behind, either. When most big blockbusters are in 3D of course it isn't easy to find one that isn't.I only had overseas numbers in mind when i wrote that, btw.
  15. It's actually easier "in this age" due to expanding markets and inflation. That applies to 3D as well as 2D movies. Still, a great total for a Batman movie.
  16. Yay! Now that it has crossed $400m i hope they make a sequel (and not just talk about it). It would be a crime not to, with that ending.
  17. I disagree. About 62% of SM3's total gross comes from OS. With TASM it'll be more, like 65%.
  18. I don't think the sequel will explode (like $700m+ OS), TASM wasn't good enough.
  19. I really liked Neytiri. In what way was Avatar less adult than his previous films? You mean less gritty, bloody?
  20. I'm a fan but even i am sick of hearing about more Avatar movies. *lol*Just get the 2 done and move on, please, Jim!
  21. Geez, i'm not telling the sentiment was that it's gonna break out, just that it wasn't all doom and gloom few weeks before release.I don't think it was disclosed what was going on with Fox, all we know is that the movie was co-financed by another party.People do go see movies because of marketing campaigns, marketing builds initial awareness. After opening weekend WOM takes over and yes, it was amazing for Avatar, i think nobody is denying that.
