Okay, let's smoke the peace pipe. Maybe i should have made it clearer where i was coming from, that my criticizing wasn't trolling but a reaction of my disappointment.
I'm aware of that and it probably will have an effect but i highly doubt a major one. Many people might not even be aware of the anniversary if they miss the news.
Just to refresh your memory, it was you who started to act like a smart ass (& a dick) yesterday. It was you who attacked me, accusing me of being a hater. Only because i was disappointed with the numbers.I'm waiting for the apology...
Basically not dropping next weekend is a very long shot. It's not 1997, Titanic is not this unknown movie that builds WOM anymore. Pretty much everyone has already seen it at this point.
They probably weren't aware that Thursday is inflated. It is a normal drop for quite a frontloaded movie. But we need more than "normal" with a $4.7m OD if this is to come anywhere near $100m.
I'm still holding up hope for a miracle, that maybe only a subset of people knew about the wednesday release and the majority thinks it opens on friday.
Doubt it. I checked the last 3 years and nothing increased that much (at least in the top 10). Even with a 200% increase it would probably not exceed $28m for the weekend. $28m would be pretty solid, though.
Especially disappointing considering everything else will probably go up by around 20% and some of the upfront demand was taken care of with tuesday previews.
I have a problem with how Titanic is performing. By now you should know that but maybe i'm expecting too much from you. The same way i was expecting too much from this re-release. Oh, well, there's still a chance it develops some nice legs but i kinda doubt it.So you've decided to follow me here since you embarrassed yourself in the wed thread?
Sorry to break it to you but you're telling stuff that i'm sure the majority here knows. Yes, it's probably going to have a good weekend relative to the OD, that's why nobody is predicting a weekend in the (high) teens. But that is beside the point.
