  1. Funny, i've never sit with my glasses on and thought to myself "ugh, that's a dark picture". Sure, in direct comparison 2D is brighter still, but it's not such a big deal to me.And as i've said, they are working on ways to make it better, i'd guess with trying to put as much light as possible on the screen, so that whith glasses on, the picture has the correct, natural brightness.
  2. I disagree. The best way to watch a movie is in theaters. A classic warrants a re-release. Not to mention there are generations that only with a re-release get the chance to watch them in theaters.
  3. Glasses are not going away anytime soon. I don't mind them. That's not to say they aren't working on ways to brighten the picture (in a properly calibrated theater it should be pretty comparatively bright to 2D already but we all know theaters like to cut corners) but you'll still wear glasses, for a long time, in theaters at least.
  4. I can't wait for 48/60fps 3D, which will eliminate motion artifacts (for the most part). It's gonna look awesome! *geeks out*
  5. He was the geek god until he decided to do movies with slightly broader appeal and *gasp* a romance at its core!
  6. He's contradicted himself in the span of a day (two?). All very confusing...Hmm, then again, he could have meant end of 2015 with "four years out" (2012 just started, he might have rounded up), which is in line with his 2nd statement.
  7. Wrong. Unlike movies such as District 9 or Inception it would have gotten a best picture nod even in the old system, unlike those movies Avatar also got nominated for best director and won a bunch of Golden Globes. Yes, a number of movies make a lot of money, like the aforementioned ROTF, and guess what, they don't get any love from the Academy. Whether you deem Avatar worthy is beside the point.
  8. Well, in the original they were pretty much forced to fight as far as i remember.
  9. That's just because media keeps regurgitating the little they know. The producer stated a while back that the water sections will be akin to the flying mountains sections in the original in terms of how much focus they'll get, which means not much. It's not like half of the movie will be underwater, not even close i'd assume. As for this interview, where is it? The link points me to an article referencing that interview, which could be the author making lots of conjectures. I'd prefer reading Cameron's own words. Anyway, something "making him think" doesn't neccessarily mean he's actually changing his approach, he might rethink again. And to be honest, i don't really care as long as what's on screen is good, action or no action.
  10. Um... you can tell that from what exactly? You seem to have amazing deduction skills. It would surprise me if the sequels won't decrease, no matter what the movie's about.
  11. SH is the only one on its 2nd weekend, i think.EDIT:Alvin is as well. But, you know, it's a family movie.
  12. Hmm, just noticed this forum has no embarrassed smiley.
  13. I'm sure there ware movies in 2002 considered brilliant that didn't do gangbusters. Did Aardman Animations ever had a big movie? I believe no Muppets movie was ever a blockbuster. Hugo seems like an acquiered taste.
  14. We are not talking about movies in general but last week's openers.
