  1. In dollars it's probably a tossup at this point. In yen, it's pretty unlikely, but not impossible.
  2. I pay about $8.50 for most movie tickets, but that's because I buy the AMC and Regal passes from Costco. Tickets are normally $12 here. ($10 for matinees). Weirdly the PacSci IMAX screen, I believe it's always $14, whether or not it's 3D. I've kinda lost my desire to see anything that wasn't shot with some IMAX footage there, though.
  3. Spinoff about what? I mean, I guess they could do some really non-standard films to bridge the gap (I'd love a film that focuses on the staff of the Daily Bugle and provides a sort of man on the street view of superheroics) but they basically only have one hero and a bunch of villains to play with. What? No, I'm asking as a hypothetical. I fully expect Sony to continue on their current path.
  4. Anyone know what the hush time Sony can get before they need to have a new film in production? It's 7 years for Fox, right? I'm just wondering if a) they decided to stop TASM as a series after this one, would anyone be happy if they sat on it a bit and launched a reboot of sorts (perhaps without an origin) in 2020. Or if TASM hadn't happened and this was the rebooted film (again, without the explicit origin), would 7 years have been enough of a gap since SM3?

  6. Mostly, yeah. Down below the line, LEGO only dropped 3% and Frozen dropped 1%.
  7. Well, it's held up better than Transcendence: 7 Transcendence $285,125 -26% 3,455 0 $83 $20,193,210 2 Warner Bros. I wonder if it's going to fail to reach a million for the weekend.
  8. And HifR falls right in line with everything else: 2 Heaven is for Real $977,571 -8% 2,705 288 $361 $56,902,409 2 Sony / TriStar (That's really early reporting for that, too. But I suppose Sony's on top of things today as they check incessantly for good Spidey news.)
  9. That will apply for the weekend, but not for Thursday.
  10. Under 10%, and in line with everything else: 1 The Other Woman (2014) $1,867,137 -7% 3,205 -- $583 $33,145,472 1 Fox 2 Rio 2 $523,978 -18% 3,703 -272 $142 $98,870,276 3 Fox 3 God's Not Dead $252,793 -7% 1,600 -196 $158 $53,795,402 6 Freestyle / Pure Flix 4 A Haunted House 2 $190,263 -8% 2,310 0 $82 $15,048,795 2 Open Road
  11. So with Rio and Nut Job, it looks like family fare is taking a hit from Spidey's opening.
  12. Interstellar Maleficent Jupiter Ascending Exodus The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies
  13. Well, the other Open Road release didn't: 1 A Haunted House 2 $190,263 -8% 2,310 0 $82 $15,048,795 2 Open Road
  14. Screw Spidey, I know what number you really want to see: 2 The Nut Job $5,226 -25% 160 -41 $33 $64,189,022 15 Open Road

  16. TASM2 in 2D at Pacific Place 11 in Seattle 7pm on Thursday May 1 It was in one of the larger theaters, but probably not much more than 10-20% full. I'd estimate the crowd was about 40-50 people. Pretty good balance between men and women. Trailers: TMNT (fair number of laughs and anticipated murmuring) Maleficent (some oohs of appreciation, but mostly quiet) Earth to Echo (quiet, but I think I heard a "nope") A Million Ways to Die in the West (some laughs, some confused chatter) 22 Jump Street (a lot of laughs) X-Men: Days of Future Past (about the same as Maleficent) Annie (some laughs and excited chatter) The film got a good response. Lot of laughs and clear enjoyment from the crowd. There was one moment with a lot of shocked gasps.
  17. At this point, if you haven't started, just list the first fifteen summer movies you can think of, make up some numbers, pick ten of those at random for the WW top 10. Pick five of the first list at random for the DOM OW, and five of the WW list for the WW OW. Then abstain from everything else.
