  1. Damn. Rio was so close to topping Cap2. Well, those are more BSG points I'm not going to see.
  2. Ah, the most important actual has been posted: 3 The Nut Job $49,745 -51% 101 -59 $493 $64,238,767 16 Open Road
  3. I'm pretty sure the Pac Sci IMAX screen in Seattle can still play 15/70, but I imagine that few films actually need it. I hope Interstellar plays that way.
  4. Probably just about everyone, given the business. Films don't get this large unless they appeal across the board.
  5. Scrat is the entire appeal of Ice Age. He's a ridiculously well done character for worldwide consumption: there's no language barrier to get him at all. So they can make a short film about him trying to get his acorn and play it everywhere without any localization. It doesn't matter if the film itself isn't so hot, the handful of Scrat sequences throughout will make it work. And any one of those sequences can be played as a trailer. I actually look forward to the next Ice Age film because even though I have no desire to see it (I've only seen the first, in fact), it means there will be Scrat shorts as trailers. Scrat is awesome. He's one of the best characters created for film ever.
  6. TF4 is going to have IMAX footage? Interesting. There wasn't any in TF3 that I remember. Granted, Bay mostly didn't use the footage well in TF2, so it wasn't a huge loss.
  7. This thread is going to be far less fun once Frozen finishes its run. OTOH, at this pace, that might be sometime next year, so we've got a while yet.
  8. It is hilarious. Bad, yes, but so much more enjoyable than X3.
  9. Not a major story anymore, but has Frozen hit the £40 million mark, yet?
  10. Perhaps my favorite scene in the whole trilogy is the post-credits bit in DMC. It sent chills down my spine the first time I saw it, it was so cool and surprising. It remains my favorite post-credits scene in an movie.
  11. I like all the PotC films. Viewing AWE opening weekends with all my friends remains one of the best movie experiences I've ever had.
  12. This Golden Week performance is reminiscent of what Frozen did DOM over the Christmas/New Years holidays.
  13. I just watched Planes. Not bad, though the first act is a bit rocky. I may need to check out Fire & Rescue in theaters this time around.
  14. Meanwhile, Frozen's gonna set a record this weekend in Japan.
  15. Damn. So it's going to blow past even the most optimistic predictions?
  16. Dammit. Totally missed the video spam. I'd have linked the Italian version of the Spider-Man cartoon. The song is amazing. Unfortunately I'm on my phone so I can't right now.
  17. Oh, I'm a huge Zimmer fan. I've been digging his scores since The Lion King and Broken Arrow.
  18. The big problem I have with the TDK music is that while it's a great set of scores, and all the villain themes are great, Batman's own theme isn't super standout. (Despite that great "Dunuh! Dunuh!" bit.) But maybe I should listen to them a few more times.
  19. Top 5 superhero musical themes: 1. Superman by John Williams 2. Spider-Man by Hans Zimmer 3. Thor by Patrick Doyle 4. Superman by Hans Zimmer 5. Captain America by Alan Silvestri (I'd probably slot The Avengers in at #6. The music is the best thing about the film.) (Just the themes, mind. I'd rank the scores differently.)
  20. What does that even mean? I remember walking out of The Incredibles and saying to a friend, "Man, I feel bad for the people making Fantastic Four right now."
