  1. Speaking as a normie who hasn't seen any of KStew's indie work, I'm pretty sure the consensus from even stans is that she's talented, but her strengths don't really fit commercial projects like these. Of course, none of her past commercial projects have been that good to begin with, so maybe she just needs decent material?
  2. Maybe I didn't read clearly enough, but this still feels pretty half-assed. I would expect a price drop or something for these movies if AMC really cared about promoting these movies, not "extra marketing" and "more showtimes".
  3. Gotta hand it to Sony when it comes to the title. For years, we've had to call things Beauty and the Beast (2017) or The Italian Job (2003). At least now it's official to call a movie by the year it came out.
  4. In all seriousness, it's probably a maintenance check. It's happened before, and it's probably happening now.
  5. I was gonna see Justice League Part 2 two weeks ago, but it wasn't playing at my theater. I wonder why?
  6. Movie/Date Monday Tuesday Wednesday Spider-Man FFH 3,982 5,105 7,745 8 days 7 days 6 days The Lion King 11,161 3,366 2,581 25 days 24 days 23 days Far From Home Day 15-6 46% of Captain Marvel (71.2M) Day 22-6 46% of Captain Marvel (71.2M) I mentioned this before, but this is close to the 3-Day of Transformers. That's...interesting. Lion King First three days of presales 97% of Fallen Kingdom (143.5M) 98% of Captain Marvel (150.1M) 301% of Toy Story 4 (364.2M) 820% of Aladdin (750.8M 3-Day, 958.4M 4-Day) (Endgame deflation occurred at this time) 435% of Incredibles 2 (795.7M) Day 25-23 78% of Infinity War (200M) 325% of Captain Marvel (498.7M) 820% of Aladdin (750.8M 3-Day, 958.4M 4-Day) (Endgame deflation occurred at this time) 978% of Incredibles 2 (1.8B) This is still following Fallen Kingdom's first few days very closely, which is...interesting. Not much else to report though.

I don't think this will reach 20M, but these are still solid numbers and it should hold steady the next few weeks in spite of Spidey and Lion King.
  8. You’re right. I had it mixed up with Election Year
  9. That’s pretty good. First Purge did 3.6M, but this one will probably be slightly less frontloaded. Also the DL Annabelle report mentions TS4 at 20.9M (!)
  10. Movie/Date Monday Tuesday Spider-Man FFH 3,982 5,105 8 days 7 days The Lion King 11,161 3,366 25 days 24 days Far From Home Day 15-7 38% of Captain Marvel (58.4M) Day 22-7 40% of Captain Marvel (61M) This was a good increase. Interested to see what the next few days have in store. Lion King First two days of presales 95% of Fallen Kingdom (141M) 103% of Captain Marvel (157.5M) 306% of Toy Story 4 (370.5M) 943% of Aladdin (863.1M 3-Day, 1.1B 4-Day) (Endgame deflation occurred at this time) 498% of Incredibles 2 (909.8M) Day 25-24 103% of Infinity War (265.1M) 391% of Captain Marvel (600.3M) 943% of Aladdin (863.1M 3-Day, 1.1B 4-Day) (Endgame deflation occurred at this time) 1233% of Incredibles 2 (2.2B) Some of you might be a bit concerned over the movie "crashing", but that happens to every movie on the second day. Gotta admit, I do think the movie following Fallen Kindgom so closely is...interesting. I don't know if it means anything at the moment, but it's interesting.

However, I feel like the Purge comps are the best bet for the time being. Yesterday 67% of A Simple Favor (10.7M) 46% of Rocketman (11.8M) 89% of Book Club (12.1M) 113% of Love, Simon (13.3M) 32% of Ocean's 8 (13.5M) 88% of I Feel Pretty (14.1M) 140% of The Hustle (18.2M) 108% of Life of the Party (19.4M) 129% of Little (19.9M) 99% of The Upside (20.2M) This did...okay. Nothing great, but it did fine enough to still stay above the double digits and would still be an okay number.
  12. Ah yes, because if there's one property that might be a bit too intense for kids without an adult around, it's Dora the Explorer.
  13. For the tracking thread peeps, Far From Home has been a nightmare. At least with Annabelle we can point to Purge or Happy Death Day. The last Tuesday openers were Vice and Holmes and Watson. Then before that was Amazing Spider-Man. We have nothing to go off of.
  14. I feel like Batman v Superman was a movie that probably had obscenely high presales on its first day. Can't prove that of course, but it just seems like an easy case.
  15. No, it's above the Disney SW films. Deadline stated TLK was the second biggest first day sale, only behind Endgame. So it beat out TFA, TLJ, RO, IW, etc. I knew somebody was gonna bring up Toy Story, and while Toy Story had other factors that helped it beat out I2, it's important to recognize that Star Wars is arguably the most presales-driven franchise of all time. Solo's first 24 hours beat out fucking Black Panther. Rogue One did more than Infinity War for God's sake. And sure, TFA was four years ago, and presales have grown exponentially, but the fact that the movie held onto the record for that long until Endgame, in spite of films like Batman v Superman, Civil War, Rogue One, Beauty and the Beast, The Last Jedi, Black Panther, Infinity War, Incredibles 2, and Captain Marvel, says a lot about how big the presales for Lion King seem to be at the moment. I'm not gonna say this is going to do like $2B or something, especially because the film could very well lose momentum as the weeks go by, but I feel like people need to understand that being second best still means a lot.
