  5. The literal reason why trailers exist are to be judged. They are designed as marketing materials that makes you say "that looks good" or "that looks bad". Of course we will judge how a trailer makes a movie look, because that's what they are designed to do. And key word is "looks". Nobody is making a definitive statement that the film will be good or terrible, but how it appears at this point in time from what we are given.

  9. The problem is less Avatar as a film and more Avatar taking up all the PLFs. Even compared to 5 years ago, IMAX and Dolby and 4DX are a huge part of a film's box office share now and most people won't even see a movie, especially big-budget actioners like Shazam, unless it's in the biggest, loudest screen possible. That's a huge problem because theaters only have one of those types of premium screens and Disney/Cameron have way more bargaining power to retain all those screens and/or give Avatar the best showtimes. This hurt Bumblebee to an extent in 2018, and while Matrix Resurrections obviously had a lot of other problems that hurt its box office, that also was an issue since Spider-Man took up everything even a week later. That's why this year the other big December movies, like Puss in Boots and I Wanna Dance and Babylon, are in genres/target audiences that don't typically shell out for the big PLF bucks. Shazam going to March is for the best since it'll be guaranteed PLFs that DC fans will prioritize first thing on.

  11. Thanks for the post, but just remember that you still have to PM me if you want it to count. It's so the process is a lot easier to compartmentalize and organize.
  12. Likely a week before release a la Encanto, Bob's Burgers, Lightyear, etc. Just seems to be Disney's MO for their animated movies for whatever reason.
