The Box Office Buzz and Tracking Thread: Electric Boogaloo

The Friday-Tuesday haul for Aquaman is near identical to National Treasure 2 (65M), which had the exact same calendar configuration. That's great That also seems good for Poppins, as it'll likely have better reception than Into the Woods and it won't be super frontloaded like Les Miz. The 400M dream still lives. -

Native Son's definitely the one I'm most looking forward to, if only because of Ashton Sanders. He deserves the same career that Chalamet and Hedges currently have, so I hope this is successful for his sake (and Hollywood becomes less racist for his sake)

Its currently tracking in the 30-40M range, which would be a really solid start, and it could see an increase in the coming weeks due to the rave reviews. A 35M opening and a Ferdinand multiplier would take it to 220M. I don't think that total's gonna happen, but the tracking and reviews do point to a very strong total.

It's a shame that all the dog actors this year are overshadowing the cat in this movie. Loved that little guy so much.

That would be amazing if Spider-Verse did win. But I still feel like Incredibles is the likely scenario. Disney bias still reigns supreme amongst Oscar voters. Maybe it'll get the Globe tho -
If Bumblebee garners solid reception too, then the potential "big 4" of this Christmas season will all have solid critical clout to back them up. Last year had TLJ and Jumanji, but Greatest Showman and Pitch Perfect were critical whiffs. Well he worked with the film's director on Rise of the Guardians before, so it would make sense he would be a cheerleader for this (reminds me, I should really get around to seeing that again).

I...I forgot a Cloverfield movie even came out this year until just now.
