It is impossible to recreate the TFA. That was the first Star Wars movie in a decade, had original cast members and was a continuation of the original trilogy. Plus the trailer was really good. So the numbers were going to be massive and subsequent films were not going to make as much. TFA made almost a billion dollars in the US alone. I don't think the release of films in successive years is a major issue. It is just that the box office is returning to something more normal. But if the current film makes $650-$700 US that is still a huge number.

So members of the press are in ecstasy over a Hollywood love letter glorifying the press? LOL. Have to admit that is playing the Oscar game at a very high level. But I soured on Speilberg tremendously over the years. Bridge of Spies was the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back. He exaggerates and distorts history too often. The joke here is no degree of distortion or oversimplification will matter because it will alll play to the press's self-admiration, which in turn will rave about the film's brilliance and timeliness like the perfect circlejerk. But then again maybe Speilberg will surprise. Possibily.

Just saw it. To be honest it was underwhelming. It was OK. No tension. Plot was pretty obvious, a standard Stepford Wives theme. Mildly entertaining. Put it this way. If I stumbled on it and watched it I would have thought it was an Ok if derivative movie. But it has been so overhyped and overrated that you are expecting more than just OK. That said I did like the cynicism. It said something amusing about the nature of idealism nowadays. So there are points for that.

How could they possible screw it up any worse than the two stand alone Hulk films? The Hulk as a mindless rage monster does not work, at least as a movie. The Hulk as a lucid kick ass machine with hints of a sense of humor on the other hand. The only Marvel animated film that worked recently was Planet Hulk, which Thor borrows from, and that version of the Hulk was perfect.

What I do not get is the release strategy. BvS was last year. Wonder Woman was just a few months ago. Why rush JL into theaters? Why not do the Flash and Aquaman films first, establish the characters, then release JL next year? And if those films were well received, it may have conditioned the critics to be more receptive while creating some favorable bandwagonism that greets the MCU films.

Well to be honest most of the MCU films have been very mediocre and forgettable.Never cared to see them more than once. But then again Suicide Squad was horrible and BVS disappointing. So far the best comic book films I've seen were Dark Knight, X-Men: DOFP, Deadpool, The first Spiderman, and Iron Man.

I think this was an inspired club. The best, albeit craziest, film of the year (Mother!) vs. arguably the worst. -

Well you can never tell. Mother! had such a crazy reception. Maybe The Snowman can leg it out. -

Well maybe it will beat mother! in terms of cinemascore. That's what matters after all. -

Blade Runner is an alltime classic. But it is a grim film. You appeciate the film being made, it is great to watch on TV, but would you really want to watch it in a theater? I think that applies to this one.
