Yeah, but DM2 burned up a lot of demand on Wed/Thur. And regarding July, if this is mainly a kids movie, the argument that they are out of school so they can go when they want is not exactly true. The parents must take them. Maybe its different in the US, but I though the non-working days are only Sat/Sun. I expect a bump today from Fri-Midnights.
Not yet. I am very pretentious when it comes to my movie experience. 7-8th row, exactly in the middle, the screen has to be big enough for me and at a certain hour. So far, my favourite spots have been sold out, so I will wait. I wanna enjoy the Minions.
I think what is happening is Lionsgate got a taste of what being a big 6 studio is like and they want to keep that profile. And maintaining that level of revenue requires blockbusters, which is why they are pouring all their money in big projects (Gods of Egypt, Power Rangers etc). That being said, they were always good at marketing horror movies so they should re-include them in their schedule.
UPDATE 2: I'm seriously strating to consider an opening over 100.000 admissions. It might actually have a shot at top 5 biggest openings ever. It is insane for an animation movie, especially considering the possible legs. WOM looks to be very good.
Haha, you are so funny. Not every adult has to be as butthurt as you are and most people just look to have fun when they go to the movies, not to citicize every little thing. Loosen up. You might just enjoy life more.
Suuuure, because it has bad WOM? Lol, you should really look at the other markets. The movie is staying flat or increasing in the second weekend and breaking records everywhere. That is evidence of great WOM. With a 130m OW it would only need average animation legs to become the highest grossing animated flick.
I want this to obliterate the animated records, both OW and DOM total. Maybe then well be done with all this 'Minions is only for kids, adults wont enjoy it'. Speaking of, it has ridiculously strong late night sellouts here and a lot of them are high end expensive shows, so adults are definitely interested.

This is my prediction from yesterday. I pretty much nailed it on the Thursday and if it follows this prediction it will drop 50%.
Lucy was awesome although I feel it could've been more. I wanna see a movie were people who suddenly get close to absolute power aren't too afraid, or too dumb or too good to use it. I wanna see a realistic movie about that and how a normal human would react.
The presales for Minions here are absolutely huge and the strange thing is they are mostly concentrated in late night shows, meaning 6-7 PM onwards. It skews heavily adult. Another thing that leads to that conclusion is that the dubbed version is selling way less tickets than the subbed version.
