  1. I can't believe there's been some controversy over the film being too upsetting for kids... like, all the classic kids movies have dealt with heavy subject matter, and it's important that they do so. Some parents need to grow up.
  2. I thought you liked this one though? Personally I thought this was the weakest film of the franchise, so not keen on McQuarrie returning. :/
  3. SST is a design experiment. It doesn't stand on its own as a short film, it's not sweet or funny or cute, but it's just a space for Pixar to experiment with different colours, animation styles, lighting effects etc. It's cool to see Pixar do some 2D animation but that's about it, the short as a whole is not particularly good.
  4. Oh my god. GOOD DINOSAUR is so damn fucking wonderful. I'm so glad kids films like this exist. It's astonishingly well made, I guess that's to be expected when these guys have been doing this for over two decades, but god it's remarkable just how talented the folks at Pixar really are. Obviously it is a much simpler film than Inside Out, but it's possibly Pixar's best told story. Alone in the cinema, I flooded all the empty chairs with my tears. I just sobbed and sobbed and sobbed. It was such a joyous and moving experience, shame it is a financial failure (and we all thought Pixar could do no wrong at the box office)
  5. I'm not talking about blockbuster levels. I'm saying that compared to recent widely released dramas that were hits, like Suffragette, Brooklyn, 45 Years, etc. it is doing very very poorly.
  6. Yes, it's awful nonsensical dull rubbish. But it's just my opinion so don't let me put you off watching it.
  7. Jupiter Ascending was enjoyable. Hardly the worst film of the year. Worst films of the year would be things like Taken 3, The Visit, Sicario.
  8. Can you say "The Good Dinosaur" as fast as you can say "bomb"? Sold less tickets today than for Spectre. 2nd day of release, a Saturday... not as high grossing as a film which is going into its sixth week of release.
  9. The best film to see on the big screen atm is THE DRESSMAKER, its camera techniques make you feel like you're living in its little town.
  10. I've been looking forward to it for a while but I didn't expect it to get near Inside Out. Past couple weeks I've seen comparatively low awareness for it, and expected ~60M OW (not sure how that would translate to 5day, I forgot it was opening on a wednesday)
  11. Only Pixar's I've seen in cinema are Incredibles, Cars, Toy Story 3 and Inside Out.
  12. Yeah my mistake, I thought Kaguya was Disney. 4 then. (BH6 released 31 January this year so 10 months ago)
  13. Well I guess I'm not going to see it today. Booked my ticket last night and was really looking forward to it, but I have overslept too long :(
  14. 15. This week so far I've seen The Lady in the Van, The Dressmaker, and Bridge of Spies, and seeing The Good Dinosaur and Black Mass tomorrow... next week it's Carol, Steve Jobs and Mockingjay... packed week. :o
  16. Yeah but it's expected at a family-oriented movie. I don't mind it too much when kids are making noise, and if they're too loud then hopefully parents will take them out (alternatively I notify a staff member and they deal with it). Earliest showtime possible = smallest audience as possible, at least on a week day like Friday. Also, old people can be really rubbish moviegoers in my experience. They talk and they make strange noises throughout the film.
  17. I think I'll go watch this and Black Mass tomorrow. Couldn't decide between tomorrow or Monday but tomorrow it is. Hopefully 12:30 Friday lunchtime there won't be *too* many screaming kids.
  18. If I love this movie then Disney has released FIVE animated films this year which I love. That's crazy.
