  1. Yeah, I don't like a single Bond movie. But seeing Sam Mendes a couple of days ago got me kinda looking forward to this. Regardless, private screening of any blockbuster on opening night is nice, no annoying public munching popcorn/rustling/talking/slurping drinks/moving about/on phones.
  2. week that box office forgot? I forgot it too. I wanna go to sleep so not bothering with part 2 and 3. All questions refer to the top 12 unless otherwise stated. Part 1 1. Will Goosebumps stay at number 1 this weekend? 3000 NO 2. Will Jem and the Holograms finish above Paranormal Activity? YES 3. Will the Last Witch Hunter open in the top 3? YES 4. How many of the 4 main new entries will open in the top 5? 2000 2 5. Will the Martian remain in the top 3? YES 6. Will Crimson Peak drop more than 62%? YES 7. Will Jobs make more than Bridge of Spies this weekend? YES 8. Name any film in the top 12 that drops less than 30% this weekend without increasing (put none if you think none)? 3000 NONE 9. Will pan finish above Sicario? YES 10. Will Hotel Transylvania have the best Saturday increase? YES 11. Will Rock the Kasbah have a better Friday than Jem and the Holograms? NO 12. Will the Intern remain in the top 9? NO 13. Which of the 4 new openers will have the best PTA? WITCH HUNTER 14. Will Jem bomb completely and make less than $2M this weekend? NO 15. Will anybody go to the cinema this weekend? NOT A SINGLE TICKET WILL BE SOLD FROM NOW UNTIL STAR WARS
  3. But all modern blockbusters have thousands of VFX shots, multiple locations etc. My mind simply cannot comprehend how James Bond costs almost twice as much as Jurassic World...
  4. How can the budget be so big? It doesn't have the setpieces of Fast and Furious, the CGI of The Hobbit, it doesn't have the cast of Avengers... seriously how can the budget be more than something like AGE OF ULTRON?
  5. Downgrade from Skyfall because it's sexist? Did this guy even watch Skyfall? Has he watched any Bond films?
  6. I shared this in the Star Wars thread earlier, but figured I will leave this here too. Just some data regarding sellouts as of midnight on first day of sales. Some stats regarding sellouts here in the UK. Data from 157 shows in 88 cinemas across the UK (~15% of the wide release that SW will get). Largely the Cineworld chain, as Odeon and Picturehouse websites are down and have been all day. Vue has not been included, as they have split their showings very widely so the data would be useless. This is purely for midnight shows on Wednesday 16th December. Tickets have now been on sale for roughly 15 hours, though bear in mind that this information took several hours to compile and the ticket sales will have increased from the time I started to the time I finished with this. So take this with a pinch of salt. NO SELLOUTS for any non-IMAX shows so far. IMAX shows are 35% sold out. However, I also took data from shows which were over 95% full. These may be considered 'sellouts' by some, as it is at the point where majority of people will refuse to buy tickets and will go to a different show - shows where the only seats not sold are disabled-only, in very poor locations, or single-seats dotted around occasionally. Including these 'effective sellouts', IMAX shows are at 88% effectively sold out. Regular shows are at 8.6% effectively sold out 2D shows are 16% effectively sold out. 44% of 2D shows are over half sold out; 18% of 3D shows are over half full. The fact that 16% of 2D shows are essentially sellouts and it's not even been one day, is fantastic. Super impressive, haven't seen this with any other movie, nothing has come close (it's miles ahead of where Spectre was, which many alleged would get the biggest sellouts). And this is with no 7pm shows. This is MIDNIGHT ONLY. Any questions please ask.
  7. Currently at 6% sellouts for Monday night.
  8. He keeps being given big budgets and underperforming financially, I'm sure he will get more. Hellboy 3 was never gonna happen and PR2 is in the far distance. It's not doing great, it's doing as well as any other romance movie does, better actually. The problem is that the film has a $55M budget.
  9. Vue has gone a bit overboard. Bond is the ultimate GA franchise here - yes it will be massive, but it doesn't have a large enough hardcore fan base that could ever fill up 4am showings. If a day is sold out then customers will wait till the next day.
  10. Laughing at Alan Taylor is sad because I actually really like Terminator Genisys and Thor 2. #mylife4alan
