  4. In the Heart of the Sea will lose money. Bomb incoming.
  5. Lol I was annoyed because I pay £16 a month to see unlimited films, and had to pay to see that one at a different cinema Also I did not have much income buddy. I'm in full time employment now, and I don't complain about paying for rarer movies any more.
  6. I am really hoping Lea Seydoux is not a Bond girl. That would be a really great move for the franchise.
  7. I don't find Deckard a particularly interesting character. Roy Batty on the other hand...
  8. I don't seeing it getting any nominations, it doesn't do anything outstandingly. It is solidly made but I can't see a lot that is going to push anyone to vote for it in any category.
  9. Hard to believe that this story hasn't been put to film before. I didn't think it was great. Solid acting, characters have down-to-earth dialogue, it's played very straightforward and doesn't try to do anything that feels different - but it is at least honest. It's very, very grim, much more so than I imagined it would be. I don't see it getting any nominations at the Oscars. Mulligan could get an acting nom at BAFTAs but that's about it for awards. Should do relatively well box office wise here. Also, Anne-Marie Duff really looks like Mackenzie Crook and its kinda creepy
  10. Inside Out pandering to white Americans? Wtf? Inside Out is a universal movie that rings true for everyone...
  11. Poorly. I thought it would do much better than this, certainly in my area at least. Unfortunately that's not the case. And if it can't find an audience in the UK, it sure as hell won't in the States.
  12. If we're talking official openings, then it'll be: #1 HT2 #2 Pan #3 Suffragette Actual openings: #1 HT2 #2 Hamlet #3 Suffragette (will be extremely close to Pan) In fact, if HT2's previews have meant that interest in the film this weekend is significantly lower, then... this may sound crazy but Hamlet has a legit shot at being #1. Which would be an all time record.
  13. Yeah I can see why that would suck. You can't take as big risks when you have less space We have 9 screens. Yesterday we had The Martian, Hotel Transylvania 2, Pan, The Walk, Everest, Legend, Regression, Macbeth, Miss You Already, Pixels, Inside Out, Strange Magic, Minions, Sicario, The Intern and Scorch Trials, plus some ballet show in Moscow. That's like 16+1 different movies in one day, it's kinda nauseating.
  14. How many movies do you usually have on at one time? (Which I guess comes down to how many screens you have and your opening times)
  15. If it makes you feel any better DAJK, we only have it for a week as it has bombed.
  16. Jackman's Blackbeard is nothing like Depp's Jack Sparrow. Maybe it looks like that from the trailer but it ain't the case. The biggest influence on the performance seemed to be Tom Hardy's Bane. The way Jackman heaved his body and twanged his words was at points virtually identical to Bane. But he's his own thing; it's a very theatrical performance and is great to watch.
  17. This wasn't terrible, and at times quite gripping. I went along with it for the most part... however, its twist ending was disappointing. You could see it coming a mile away but I really hoped the film wouldn't carry through with what I thought it would do. I just wanted to rein it in so I could keep the good side of the film. And then it does what you think it's going to do. And its done so distastefully. I have no clue why Emma Watson agreed to do this movie and particularly play this character given that she is an 'ambassador of feminism' and fights for that equal rights thing. The film's message about sexual assault victims and rape survivors just made me angry... If the movie had been made 30 years ago when these events happened, then it may have been more acceptable, but watching it with a more contemporary social attitude it's just insensitive and insulting.
  18. Yeah, seeing a movie without knowing anything about it is great. There have been a few movies this year where I went in without seeing a trailer, cast list, plot synopsis etc. - I literally only knew the film title. And they've been the most enjoyable experiences in the cinema so far.
  19. it could well win Best Song, so at least it'll have that.
