  1. Great hold for MM, it's has been rebounding from the holiday all week. Last week there were doubts it would make $50 million. Now it will easily surpass that figure. This movie is not as frontloaded as the first movie. I expect the rebounding will continue for the next few weeks.
  2. MMXXL HAS AN OUTSIDE CHANCE TO EQUAL OR DO BETTER THAN ITS FIRST WEEKEND. THREE QUESTIONS: Has any second weekend equal the first weekend? Has any second weekend better the first weekend? What is the smallest drop ever from first to second weekend?
  3. MMXXL flexing its muscles. A good Monday thru Thursday showing. Very possible strong weekend $9-10 mil
  4. Dont know what the dispute is about, lets not assume
  5. Most media organizations hasn't posted Wednesday's numbers yet, apparently there is some dispute over the results.
  6. MMXXL is behaving strange. Don't be surprise if it has a $10 million weekend. Only a -23% drop.
  7. TG is really falling faster than I expected. MMXXL is holding better than I expected. (Female cult following)
  8. 1. Minions $125 m 2. JW $19 m 3. IO $18.7 m 4. Gallow $15 m 5. TG $13.4 m 6. S/L $11.1 m 7. MMXXL $9.3 m 8. Ted 2 $5.4 m 9. Max $3.5 m 10. Spy $0.98 m
  9. Nice to see MMXXL recovered on Sunday (+64%) after a terrible holiday Saturday.
  10. I don't think so, he made a reported $60 million from the first movie. He'll probably make another $40 million from XXL.
  11. My mistake, Tammy did open on Wednesday, I got mixup with another movie. But it was the only movie to open that week. T4 was the only competition. MMXXL has very strong competition from 3 movies. So it still an apple and oranges comparison
  12. Tammy opened on a Friday, MMXXL opened on Wednesday. So you are comparing apple and oranges with weekend box office numbers.
  13. I agree, a movie that only appeals to one quadrant (adult women) is not going to make a big splash at the box office. Plus a lot of women didn't like the first movie because they thought the movie was about stripping. Channing Tatum has always said about both movies, " this is a movie about STRIPPERS" he never said it was about STRIPPING. Some people were disappointed because it wasn't a lot of stripping. Both movies are character driven movie, about the ups and downs of the strippers.
  14. The first movie was released the last weekend of June 2012 WB made a mistake by releasing XXL on a holiday weekend. This hurt the box office numbers. Holidays are family time, so family movies are going to rule the weekend. IO (Rated G), JW&TG (Rated PG-13) these are movies you can take your family to see together. XXL being Rated R didn't have that luxury.
  15. The Jump Street franchise are on a two cycle, and that worked out great for them. Comedy franchises are hard to maintain. Two years sequels are better than three year for a comedy franchise.
  16. MMXXL budget is only $14 million, only $7 million was spent on marketing. So it's nowhere near a flop. It's going to make a good profit for the studio. You can't expect that a R-rated movie geared only toward adult women to make blockbuster box office numbers. That's why the budget was low. The media expected to much from this movie because the first one over perform. But like Ted 2 the novelty has wored off. Both MM and Ted should have came with sequels last year, three may have been to long.
  17. Clearly studios don't really care about weekend numbers. Opening TG and MM on Wednesday hurt these two movies weekend numbers. Had they opened on Friday they would have rank number 1 and 2 for the weekend.
