  1. Despite what people are saying, MMXXL is still a hit and still will make big profit for the studio. The predictions for this weekend was based on the first movie, which really over performed.
  2. I expect Fifty Shades 2 will track like MMXXL But Cinderella and PP2 survived because children and teenagers were aloud to see these movies. MMXXL is geared towards adult women over 18 years of age. That audience is the most unpredictable. MMXXL can't benefit from a younger than 18 years old female audience. Comparing Cinderella to MM is like comparing apples and oranges.
  3. I'm about to say something that may be insulting, but I think it needs to be said. MMXXL is a perfect example of why Hollywood don't make many movies geared toward women. By the way I'm a woman too. This movie was projected to make $40-$45 million over 5 days, now it will be lucky to make $30 million. We women are so unpredictable, that Hollywood is afraid of us. After Pitch Perfect 2, Hollywood was more than happy to make more movies for women, but after a movie like Spy (another movie where the b/o came in below expectation) and now MMXXL, Hollywood may not be so eager now to make women center movies. On the other hand, men are very predictable, which is why 90% of movies (99% of summer movies) are geared toward them.
  4. These are not bad numbers for MM, it's on track with the first movie. WB should have opened it on Friday instead of Wednesday, because it makes the movie look like it having a bad weekend.
  5. MMXXL is doing about the same as the first movie. The first movie opening day was $19 million on a Friday. XXL from Wednesday thru Friday is about $19 million.
  6. Present Fandango top five 1. IO 2. JW 3. MMXXL 4. TG 5. Ted 2 This doesn't mean MM and TG are falling fast, it just that IO and JW are doing damn great.
  7. Don't cry for MMXXL It's only has a $14 million budget and it was never expected to make more than the first movie. It's a movie that is made strictly for women and gay men. Although they would love to have them, the studio never expected straight men or lesbians to see MMXXXL. It will pickup on Friday and Saturday, because it's girls night out (husbands at home with the kids) and it also boys night out (gay men). But we sould cry for TG, this is a $170 million budget from major franchise and it can't even beat two older movies. Sadly TG was made for the general audience, but the GA seems uninterested. I have no doubt it will pickup on Friday and Saturday, but so will IO and JW.
  8. MMXXL predictions really don't matter. The film will do 3x its budget worldwide this weekend alone. Also MMXXL may not be as frontloaded as most people think.
  9. MMXXL is doing great. It already has past its budget domestically
  10. Current Fandango top five 1. MMXXL 2. IO 3. TG 3D 4. Ted 2 5. TG 2D
  11. Great numbers for MM, Terrible numbers for TG A lot of you are assuming that MM is more front loaded than TG, I not so sure of that. MM fans are not teenage girls going to see the movie the first day. They are more mature women 25 and older who can wait until the weekend or even next weekend to see the movie. Yes, the first one was front loaded, but that's because of the novelty of the movie. Now that the novelty is gone, the fans don't feel the need to go the first day. Also for both MM and TG, the first day is Wednesday, and Thursday is a normal working day. But with the cost of both movie, MM did great for a mid-week release.
  12. I think MM is going to have a huge 5 days, it will sell more tickets than TG. However, TG will finish ahead of MM because of the 3D/IMAX ticket prices.
  13. MMXXL is out selling TG in online advances ticket sales. Don't be surprise if XXL wins the weekend.
  14. I think most of you guys are underestimating Magic Mkie XXL. This is only a $13 million movie with an spirited audience. Warner Brothers is doing targeted audience marketing, mainly to women and gay men. The first one opened at $39m on a three day weekend. I see XXL opening a little over $50m for a five day opening and $37m(Friday-Sunday)
  15. I don't care what anybody else says, but WHITE HOUSE DOWN was a much better movie than OHF. Unfortunately Sony Pictures fucked up bad by putting WHD in a spot where it couldn't compete, in the middle of the summer against the WWZ, MOS, MONSTERS UNIVERITY, DESPICABLE ME 2, TLR and a R-rated comedy THE HEAT. Plus OHF was still in some theaters. This type of movie should never be release in the summer unless its part of an establish franchise. OHF had a great release date, with very little competition. But what's strange is WHD's original release date was November 1st. This was a safe date, it would have been the only big movie that weekend and far enough away from OHF. It was a boneheaded decision by Sony Pictures.
  16. Glad to see Jupiter Ascending is doing well in China. Unlike the West, I guess the Chinese and the Eastern Europeans appreciate original space operas.
  17. I don't understand these numbers. Could someone explain them to me. For instance: Jupiter Ascending 46M~OD-7.3m Big Hero Six 19M~157-25.1M
  18. My prediction is probably high, but I'm hoping it will make it. The fact is because it's an original and unknown property scifi movie it's hard to predict. It can open from a low $15mil to a high $60mil domestically.
