Personally, I would love this film to outgross Frozen. I'll never understand how a generic Disney princess movie that 's been done a million times over the past 20 years do so immensely well at the box office. I would prefer finely made animated films such as Zootopia or Inside Out make that kind of money.
I saw this film 4 hours ago this morning. It's a great family film and probably the best Walt Disney cg animated film. Miles better than Frozen, the characters, story, voice acting, humor, and pacing were a lot better. I would dare say it's on par with Inside Out. A
I'm very glad to see a genuine superhero flick such as deadpool have a great box office run. It's very rare to find that kind of cbm in the mainstream and even rarer, it's beaten well-known cbm franchises like Batman, Superman, Captain America, Thor, and X-men.
The Revenant: Best Director, Best Actor, Best Cinematography, Best Sound
Mad Max Fury Road: Best Sound Editing, Best Film Editing, Best Make Up, and Production Design.
I think it's a tie.
You obviously love Warcraft since you're a serious wow raider, so why don't you want it to be successful? I played wow a lot 4 years ago as a tauren shadow priest/tauren dk tank and still occasionally play it. My love for the game wants it to be successful.
The enormous difference between watching a screener and in the theater. Better sound and picture quality makes all the difference, especially for a visual heavy film.
Deadpool might finish with $300 million. Much bigger than the X-men franchise, an unknown superhero beating a well-known group of superheroes. Deadpool is also r-rated, non-family friendly and has a less popular cast.
I had a blast watching this in theaters today. Sex, ultra violence, profanity and toilet humor makes this film an immoral guilty pleasure. My important advice is do not bring children to see this movie. There were some kids with parents in the theater that made the viewing experience very awkward. B+
I saw the film for the first time on a screener and gave it an F. Later, I watched it again in a theater when it was released and gave it an A. This is the type of film that needs to be seen on the biggest screen as possible with super sound quality. Like Mad Max, The Revenant relies on imagery to pull you into their world and mesmerize you. Powerful acting from Leonardo Dicaprio and Tom Hardy with a great supporting cast adds to the film's quality and gives us characters we care about. To many people, it does seem empty/hollow because the atmosphere is so gloomy and some visuals are long and boring.
This is a great film, but it's nothing special. The acting and writing are top notch, but I've seen better in TV shows like True Detective season 1 and Breaking Bad. There is no good camera work, production design or anything that makes it stand out. Overall, it's a small film that feels like a TV show with great writing/acting. B+
I really hope The Big Short doesn't win best picture. It'll be the worst winner since Crash. To me, Spotlight, Revenant, Martian, Mad Max, and Room were better films. Those films winning would be well deserved.
