  1. True. Though there’s always the chance that the next one will do much better. Part 2 just needs a better release date without any competition hurting it. And it needs to be marketed as the “final one”.
  2. True. That actually made $586M WW (including the $254M DOM), but having just looked further in the “highest grossing comedy films list”, Hangover 2 is just highest grossing pure comedy film worldwide…made in the US. Surprisingly…the highest grossing pure live action comedy film in general worldwide…(counting foreign movies) is the more lighthearted Chinese film “Hi, Mom” which made $850M+ WW and came out two years ago. Anyone ever seen that film?
  3. Yeah. That could make Barbie the highest grossing live action comedy (pure) of all time. Since most of the $600M+ DOM grossing movies consists of action/CGI-spectacle driven movies.
  4. Yeah, but that’s an animated film. Though good guess.👩🏻‍💼😅 Let me rephrase this again. Highest grossing live action comedy film of all time, worldwide. Which one currently holds that record? Including foreign films.
  5. Are we looking at the highest grossing pure comedy film (in general) of all time, with Barbie, worldwide? Which comedy film holds the highest worldwide gross record? Foreign ones count as well.
  6. Kids love Barbie in general. Especially little or preteen girls who grew up with the brand. Any chance the movie could have insane legs and gross around $500-600M+ DOM total or more?
  7. If Barbie gets over $200M+ OW, it would be something special. It’s a 4-quadrant movie, right? There’s never been any movie opening over $200M+, that has been considered truly disappointing or bad in any sense.
  8. I think so. Depends on how much backloaded Barbie is, due to being a shorter film. Over $200M OW or close to it can happen. Also, how much is the theater count for Barbie?
  9. The current OW record for a WB film so far, is Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 with it’s $169M OW that it still holds after 12 years. And no other WB film after that, topped Potter’s OW record.
  10. If that number or above that happens, that would give Barbie the biggest OW ever for a Warner Bros movie.
  11. Well, being an original film and a non-sequel, it might be more backloaded than most other blockbusters this summer. Also…this a comedy, isn’t it? And is it family-friendly or so? 👩🏻‍💼💁🏻‍♀️
  12. Any idea what the maximum OW might be for Barbie considering the presales? Are we looking at some record-breaking grosses here and there?👩🏻‍💼
  13. Were there no kids/younger audiences in that have seen a Mission Impossible film in general, during their childhoods? 🤷🏻‍♀️ Were the films only for adults or so? Considering that even kids & teens like action & spy-stuff. 👩🏻‍💼
  14. Meh, both John Marston & CJohn has been considered two of the few pessimistic users in these box office threads, even as of lately. Barely ever did I see or sense anything positive or spirit-uplifting posts when they comment. It’s almost always “pessimism” whenever a movie performs worse at the box office than expected, it’s all “OMG, it flopped or underperformed and that shit. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Wouldn’t be surprised now if they just read this comment, and then automatically deny whatever truths told about them and pretend that they aren’t pessimistic, and then go back to “that” routine of theirs, etc, etc, etc. 🤦🏻‍♀️
  15. I wouldn’t say that TFIOS “destroyed” EOT. Since both movies while released on the same day, both made $100M+ DOM each. And both co-existed. Edge of Tomorrow = $100M The Fault in Our Stars = $124M Worldwide-wise, Edge did actually beat out Stars. Edge of Tomorrow = $370M WW The Fault in Our Stars = $307M WW So, no. While Stars did more than Edge in the US, it didn’t destroy it, perse.
  16. As much as i love the later MI-films, I do wish Ethan and Julia (Michelle Monaghan’s character) stayed together as husband and wife (a married couple). Why did they have to break up or so during the later films? 🙍🏻‍♀️😢 I loved their chemistry together, especially in the third film.
  17. For me, there’s not a single Mission Impossible-film in the franchise that i didn’t like or didn’t work. Since i find all of them very enjoyable. Yes, even the first few MI-films are pretty good and underrated. 💁🏻‍♀️ Aside from the most well-received & beloved MI films (4-7), are there anyone who are big fans of the first three films (1-3)?
  18. Ah yes, TLM as well. I agree. 👍🏻 ATSV could challenge the first Spider-Man (Raimi) for the second highest grossing SM-film (in general) DOM-wise behind SM: No Way Home. It only needs to beat that film’s $407M to get there. Anyways, back to MI. Any idea how it might do overseas?
  19. I think so. Maybe more if it truly breaks out in a big way. Would be sweet if MI7 joins Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 & Across the Spider-Verse in the over $300M DOM-club from the summer. Both got to those numbers with around $118-120M OW and with very good quality and reception.
