  1. Again, I love Mangold... but if this was actually true, this would be the first multi-hundred-million dollar tentpole in decades ...perhaps evah... to have not shot any "pickups" or "additional inserts" to word it the most respectful way I can. Mangold, like Gunn over at DC, should probably lay low over the rest of the holidays until serious promo for the movie starts to happen in the spring. This snippy back and forth via Twitter does no one any favors...especially when you're essentially contradicting a quote from the Maestro John Williams (!).
  2. I'm waiting with popcorn for what now seems like the inevitable Gal Gadot and Momoa statements... The only real question is, are they coming before Christmas, or buried in the week following...or is Gunn respecting them both by including them in the big January "Nu-Nu-DC" announcement? That might be what he's doing... unless Gadot and Momoa are indeed transitioning over... one reprising as a senior figurehead (more in the vein of Wonder Woman in the Justice League Animated Series), the other as perhaps...another character? STAY TUNED! 😁
  3. Have to admit that I didn't expect D. Johnson to publicly capitulate that quickly.... Gunn/Safran must be laying down the law in meetings! To humble The Rock is something quite impressive! But of course...audiences had a significant hand in all this, by not buying into the movie!
  4. @grim22 What the hell went down, here??? 😄 D. Johnson denies it all... Man, the DC drama reveals never end... it's better than any soap opera! https://thedirect.com/article/henry-cavill-fired-manager-superman
  5. You must not be paying attention to what's going on. David Zaslav, head of Warner Bros. Discovery, has literally said "There won't be four Batmans..." A point I again tried to clarify pages ago...but you need to read. Keaton's Batman will likely be a one-off appearance in THE FLASH in the spring, and Affleck's Bats will also be done/finito...for the last time...we think...in that same movie. There are no other scheduled Batman appearances formally announced at this point until Matt Reeves' THE BATMAN 2...whenever that happens. And I'm predicting Gunn/Safran don't introduce their Batman for quite a while, yet... And why do you think Reeves "isn't playing ball"? You're operating off gossip/speculation from fanboy Twitter that to my knowledge, has no grounding in factual statements from anyone involved. Perhaps Gunn/Safran are OK with Reeves continuing his own universe until they really figure out their own? It's quite possible! Let's see how the popcorn shakes out before we complain about the burnt kernels...
  6. Amazing stuff. I'm convinced Cruise will be pulling a Harry Houdini for M:I8 and burying himself underground or underwater in chains and literally resurrecting himself. (Oh wait, that was another movie...) What else could top this??? Except Space...and he's doing that separately with Doug Liman!
  7. I would take a step outside yourself and observe how this statement has defined Hollywood since the beginning of time... 😉
  8. Perhaps Z. Snyder really did predict the future?? Notice how the actors have basically left/been kicked out/made persona non grata in the order presented here, from left to right?? Weird, huh? 😁😁 I expect formal announcements this week or by January on Gadot and Momoa...
  9. The movie doesn't open in the US until later this week. The tracking is at $18 million OW from what I read... but we'll see how audiences react. I think this is the kind of movie that might attract casuals, but when they find out it's over 3 hours long, many of them we'll be like ...NAH! 😁
  10. Unless this ends up having a secret sci-fi twist, I don't see it breaking out beyond die-hard Nolanites and the boomer/octogenarian set. I say Global goes lower than TENET. All the names in it may not make a difference, it will come down to whether people are in the mood for a drama about the atomic bomb, as @OncomingStorm93 states. It's looking more and more like 2023 will be a humbling year for the Box Office as it re-centers itself Post-COVID and Streaming.
  11. I won't buy into your pitch, @excel1 unless you actually dare to suggest some casting for Lois Lane besides this stranger called "someone." COMMIT! MAKE A PITCH! 😁 It's one of the most important screen pairings in popular film history, and it absolutely needs to work on screen. That's one further thing that arguably didn't work about Cavill and Amy Adams. No chemistry. (Though she's so good she nearly convinces you, anyway.)
  12. This repetitive statement is equally as tiresome as the "doomposting" about AVATAR. Give it some time. For BOTH topics. Movies are made to be seen, regardless of precious "cinematic universe" concerns and regardless of record-breaking opening weekend. As Cameron states, "Weekend #3 is the real one to pay attention to."
  13. Says who? Jenkins' own statement is arguably as vague and inconclusive as anything else, and almost all of the gossip surrounding her exit could still fit into whatever scenario she described as her side of the story. The truth is usually somewhere in the middle. The question you should be asking is...who has an axe to grind against Jenkins, to have put such stories about her out there...and why? Notice how Gunn has still not said "I'd be happy to work with her in the future" about Jenkins. And notice how basic his one statement about her exit even was...it sure didn't sound effusive. But yeah, I've argued for a long time that this forum should have some higher standards and really only allow posts from the established Hollywood trades (and the principles involved, in this case Gunn, etc.), not these other Fan-culture Tweeters who basically have no journalistic credibility. Having said all this, Borys Kit from THR is seen to be the most connected to any version of truth of what's going on at DC/Warner Bros.
  14. Your ID seems to hauntingly match your comments. Are you a sleeper agent sent here to convince us all to move completely to streaming?? 😁
  15. AY AY AY AY AY AY SPOILERS @stuart360 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. No, they're actually going to be reasonable...because there'd be nowhere to go but up! 😉 But let's wait and see what happens...
  17. Agreed. The feeling I come away with having just finished the movie is...yeah, the movie is not great, and Johnson's ego got out of control when out there promoting it, but he developed this project for years, many years longer than most actors stick with projects, and yeah, he seemed to genuinely care about it. While the movie isn't great, I found it overall a damn sight better than BvS, Whedon's Justice League; I'd even watch Black Adam again before I'd ever touch WW84 again -- so while the story and lines are entirely predictable, the characters barely defined (as only a measured fan of DC lore, Hawkman's powers/suit origin are entirely unclear to me through this movie, for instance), the ultimate villain super-lame-o... dammit if Pierce Brosnan (and the amazing suit) doesn't give the drama a heightened life and existence through his performance alone. Brosnan nearly saves the entire movie! Perfect casting, there. The effects are mostly great, but the whole thing moves so fast, and yet still too much of the Snyder-esque slo-mo action that is so tired, at this point. But yes, Johnson's "charisma" is barely existent, and while he physically fits the role, in a way he's probably still miscast. I'm almost sure now also that Johnson probably slammed this into production without a 100% script because his age was simply getting up there -- he and Garcia were thinking, "If we're going to do this, and I potentially play this character for the next 10 years -- we have to do it NOW." And everything wild that's happened in the past six weeks with DC/Warner Bros., right as this movie was emerging, I'm sure Johnson feels slighted. The sting of the movie underperforming is one thing -- but the sting of his promotional phrases being utterly flipped over by the huge DC corporate change, and his character and movie now likely being buried, has to be an even greater sting. You have to feel a bit for the guy. And Cavill's cameo...I can see why this whole thing is frustrating for his fans. It's kind of a cool moment, and Cavill never looked or sounded better than in that moment, I must admit. They nailed it. But it's over. (See, I can be an objective critic!) That's the funny thing about art. Even in a movie as mediocre as Black Adam, it still makes me empathize a bit with humanity, and therefore reconsider all this snarking we've all been doing about The Rock and everything DC. Still...no way they should have have spent $200 mil. on this. That was way stupid. 😉
  18. BLACK ADAM debuts today on HBOMAX. No promo from Dwayne Johnson?? No "Hierarchy of HBOMAX will change...now that BLACK ADAM is here!" No? Hmmm... oh, I see he stopped "following" his own project's social media...and the studio that funded it. You can't make this stuff up. Off to watch what all the fuss was about on HBOMAX! 😁
  19. Everything is heal-able in Hollywood, but for now, sounds like Dwayne is "taking his toys and going home" too! 😁
  20. Zaslav has been very clear on his perspective, that they don't want brand confusion anymore -- and Gunn/Safran have already basically announced that they plan one, cohesive universe. So I'm sure they are working towards these goals. If The Batman had been less critically acclaimed and only done Black Adam numbers...well, that would get pushed under the rug, too! But it's going well. So I'm sure they want to see what else they can do with it for now.
  21. Until next week, when it's announced that Gadot has parted ways from the DC universe, too. STAY TUNED!!! 😁 Notice how the most recent Hollywood Reporter piece did not mention that Gunn/Safran have met with Gadot, yet...
  22. Zaslav has been quoted: "There won't be four Batmans." ...Which they were basically on the road to, prior to Gunn/Safran being hired. Next year, Affleck (on screen) will likely be saying goodbye...for the last time. Keaton seems more and more likely be one and done. And Reeves/Pattinson Batman 2 will probably go into production for a summer/fall 2024 or early 2025 release. (And they were all originally planned to be on screen this year!) Bat-saturation! After Reeves starts Batman #2, at the most there might be two Batmans in a co-existence, at some point. But I doubt that will last long, and I'm betting that Gunn/Safran have a plan to delay Batman's entrance into their new DCU...which would create great anticipation, of course! I don't expect to see a DCU Batman on screen until 2025 at the earliest (or at least not in a big, featured way...perhaps a cameo). And I don't expect there to be a solo Batman DCU movie anytime soon...of course so as not to compete with Reeves/Pattinson. I'm sure they'll say a bit more in January!
  23. I don't think this is a new logo, folks...these are sweats that were made for in-house production people. I'm sure Gunn will be on Twitter debunking within the next hour or two... 😁 And yes, if they're smart, they'll move away from the "New 52" style/anything associated with the previous DC Universe opening logos...
