  1. Looks like SoC will be playing at over 3000 sites this coming week. Nice little expansion of 250+ sites, which should help it's drop percentage even more.
  2. There's just hardly any theaters playing it in Canada. It's hard to make a dent in the day to day gross when it's playing at 120 sites out of the 2751 total. Although it does look like about 75 sites are being added for this coming week. So there's that.
  3. I've heard from multiple people that have watched this, that it was hilarious. It should do well as counter programming to Star Wars.
  4. F Gary Gray did say he has a 3.5 hour cut that features more about "the women in their lives" that he wants to release on blu ray. No idea if it will feature any of the things mentioned in the article (probably not), but I guess it's possible. Either way, it's not like it's surprising aspects like that were left out. Like Eddy said, the movie was already pretty long for mainstream audiences, and when you're the producer of a film, you have the option to possibly leave out some stuff you're not exactly proud of. That's the way a lot of biopics work. Take all "based on a true story" movies with a slight grain of salt that some things may have been altered for various reasons.
  5. I really don't have high hopes for Steve Jobs. Which is too bad, because I like a lot of the people involved with it, but I just can't see Fassbender as Jobs, and I don't know how interested I am in seeing a movie about Jobs that doesn't even get to the iPhone launch. Everest though, looks amazing. And I think it will be another one with strong reviews and word of mouth. I'd like to see it do Perfect Storm like numbers (adjusted, of course), but it's releasing in late September, not early June.
  6. I believe they will. Almost 200 additional sites picked it up today to start on Friday. Expect some more tomorrow which will probably push it over 3k for this coming weekend.
  7. Like others have asked, do we have any Sunday estimates for SoC? I feel like Universal was ultra conservative with the weekend number released this morning. Went and saw it this afternoon and the theatre was packed.
  8. 2751 for a r rated title with this subject matter is pretty expected. The fact is, most bookers in rural areas probably weren't keen on playing this, thinking it wouldn't do as well in their demos. Now maybe with word of mouth and reviews and a big opening weekend, some of them change their mind and who knows maybe it will expand next week or the week after.
  9. In addition to it hitting 600 mil 18 days before Avengers, it's also still making more every weekday than Avengers was at this point. So what is your basis for thinking a movie 18 days ahead to 600 mil, making more money on a daily basis than Avengers, in the heart of summer won't pass it? You're delusional.
