  1. Not saying you're wrong, and I know how unreliable Flixster is, but: TFA: R1 has identical score and ratings right now. Of course it is far far far too early to say anything about it all (given that R1 is just shy of 43,000 ratings and TFA has nearly a quarter million). Still as I just said in the Mothership Thread, I found the similiarity in score striking.
  2. I managed to some how protect mine from the pouring rain. Stuck it under my shirt carefully enough not to bend it and it looks like it came out alright.
  3. Today will be a day long remembered. It has seen the end of the sub 130 OW weekend, it will soon see the end of Baumer's rebellion. == Okay, I just wanted to say the line too.
  4. That's what I actually thought at first (that the film broke), but near as I can tell the nasty weather we had caused power surges that knocked the projector offline or power systems inside the booth (as power was still on inside the theater). Something to do with power, at any rate (we were in the lower half of the theater and couldn't hear everything they said and had to get things through the grapevine; I definitely heard the word 'power' the second time). Could have been something to do with the film breaking though. We did get something like 2 inches of rain today with nasty wind, and the weather was hellish (for Sacramento) at the time of our screening, so power problems does make a fair amount of sense. And while 2 inches of rain in under a day (and an inch of rain in FOUR hours) might not seem like a lot to some, we get about 20 inches of rain a YEAR here (when there isn't a 100 year drought going on at least ). So it's a lot for us.
  5. Completely not kidding about this, BTW: Acutally kinda funny now, looking back on it. Person I feel badly for is the poor attendant who had to hand that out to everyone as they filed out and had to say "For the inconvience" as folks were filing by. Wasn't HER fault she was in that position. Also felt bad for her coz I'm sure some folks didn't take things as much in stride as I did when I walked by her. (Was actually momentairly stunned when I saw that coupon and didn't even say anything as I walked by her )
  6. They gave everyone coupons on our way out for free popcorn on our next visit. MEDIUM POPCORN. As I said elsewhere if I didn't have my 76 year old father with me, I would have demanded a refund. But it was going to take too long, and I would have had to talk to people outside in the cold damp outdoors (where the box office was) and getting potentially rained on as the wind swirled around. And I didn't want comped tickets to another showing coz it's a theater I don't normally go to. All in all I just wanted to get the hell out of Dodge before I got even more upset. So, yeah, I was a pushover. But I can eat the money, and I just didn't want to go through the hassle of seeing what I could get out of it. Maybe I'll drop by tomorrow in my free time and see what, if anything, I can get. But probably just going to blow it off as one of those things.
  7. Aaaaand, I've cooled down. Mostly. Still a tiny tiny amount of residual annoyance, but I suppose if blowing 60 bucks* on a movie experience that didn't live up to what I wanted thanks to technical and weather problems is the worst thing that happens to me this weekend, I shouldn't complain that much. Emphasis on THAT much. * I blew 16 bucks on parking when the weather forced us to go to a nearby uber expensive parking garage instead of getting free steet parking.
  8. Yes, even my disgruntled annoyed audience laughed at the right bits and and reacted as the film suggested they should react when important stuff happened. I think kids older than, oh lets say 12 should be fine. Maybe even 10 if they're mature enough, but that's probably pushing it. But, of course, parents know their kids better than any of us do. If a film can mostly win over a crowd that had to sit through 20 to 30 minutes of stoppages, it should be fine overall. Some people will hate it. Random distribution suggests that some whole theater rooms will either hate it or react underwhelming. But for the most part it's legs should be fine. Not otherworldly. Not four quadrant appeal. But there should be enough repeat business and there should be enough good WOM to ensure a successful run. Won't get 100% approval, but we pretty much knew that as of a few days ago.
  9. For what it's worth, even though there were a bunch of pissed off folks because of the film stopping twice, there was healthy applause at my IMAX showing at the end. As long as we're pulling out that card, I might as well play mine.
  10. Copypasting from the R1 thread: === Thanks to the massive storm in Sacramento, power problems caused the film to stop. TWICE Had about 20 to 30 minutes of stoppage because of that. ==== "Other than that, how was the play, Porthos?" Later. Still annoyed about that. Got stuff to do around the house.
  11. Getting drenched when standing in line outdoors WITHOUT a ticket is no fun. I'm not saying it will have a huge affect. But might around the margins for the places where they are standing outside and not waiting inside to buy a ticket. But Thr Night is probably for the die-hards so it won't matter as much, if at all. But over the weekend? Might matter for walkups more than you are considering. IF folks have to brave long lines before even buying a ticket.
  12. Same two hours north of you. Not so hard as to make roads unsafe, but might dissaude casuals. OTOH, we're supposed to be rain free for the rest of the weekend so the OW shouldn't be affected too much from our neck of the woods, just how it's spread out.
  13. Not if it's right at the 135 to 140 line! (even 150 OW will bring out the multiplier skeptics )
