  1. Yes, that's exactly it. Just decided to call it the funky looking one for shorthand and understandability.
  2. @Wrath The Roman Alphabet exists in the SW galaxy as well as that funky looking one: High Galactic
  3. If this was a Marvel or DC (or even Potter ) OW, I would have set the thread ban number higher (say 2.5). But there just aren't THAT many people with a hate-on for this movie. So that first question really is: Will ANYONE get a thread ban because they throw a tantrum in THIS thread. (NOTE: It has to be from this thread. Someone gets an R1 ban handed to them because of a different thread, it totes doesn't count. I'm sneaky that way )
  4. By the way: Over/under on: Thread bans and Forum bans (for posting spoilers) from this thread. I'll set the over/under on Thread Bans at 0.5 and Forum Bans at 1.5 Get you guesses in folks.
  5. @wileECoyote What's the exact deadline for this anyway? Midnight tonight or Midnight tomorrow night?
  6. And Disney would just respond by saying, "Complain to Weaver first, not us."
  7. Embargo ends on the day/night the entertainment world is going to be obsessed with the new Star Wars movie? Not accusing them of a Friday Night News Dump*, but they sure could have better timing... * Especially since it's Thursday Afternoon/Morning. Still, given the release date, not sure when the best time would be to end the embrago, given the near blanket coverage R1 is going to get over the weekend and Monday. ===== Saw an ad for this on MNF for what its worth.
  8. SW isn't a kids flim series. SW isn't a YA film series. SW is a family film series. As in the old timey definition of "appeal to all ages" label that used to be the hallmark of a large segment of entertainment for decades. It's just that entertainment has gotten so fragmented and media aimed at families as so fallen out of favor, that it's strange to see a throwback like TFA (or SW for that matter). --- Now R1? That might be a different kettle of fish, if the reports about it being a war movie really are accurate. Different enough that it could shed it's familiy film monkier. But that's a debate for, oh, about four days from now or so.
  9. Folks, get your predicitions in! WHO KNOWS, TORQ, YOU MIGHT WIN A BUCK! (will put in my own numbers perhaps later )
  10. IIRC, the official estimate last year was '3900+' which then turned into 4134. Lots of freaking out over the 'low' estimate as well, again IIRC. Might mean a slightly higher theater count than TFA. Or it might mean Disney is better at guessing this year.
  11. I regret I have but one like to give Fantasia. I won't say it would be impossible for that film to be made today, but got drat, it would have an uphill climb. Probably wind up on cable or something like that. Or some arthouse exhitbit somewhere. Regardless, I'm glad it did get made and is still entertaining folks all these years later.
  12. I'm actually wondering if the Han Solo movie might still move to Xmas time. IF it is expected to do around 300 to 400, there might be room for it and Avatar 2 to co-exist. And who knows if A2 actually makes this date or not.
  13. The other point about the discussion of FB is that it opened to (just under) 75m. There was a danger, however small, of it acting like a sequel to a very long running franchise with massive frontloading followed by tepid legs due to lack of interest from the general public. That it seems, I repeat SEEMS, to be finding an audience outside of the die-hard fans is worthy of discussion. It also points to a larger opening for FB2, which also makes it worthy of discussion on a box office watch site. Of course, it could still nosedive from this point out (nothing is written in stone and all that), so, yes, some of the discussion is a little premature. But, hey, rebounding numbers are ALWAYS going to get a little bit of discussion round these parts. Especially if it is tied to a fan favorite franchise.
