  1. 22.5 and above I'd be really happy. I can settle with 20-22.5. Below 20 is meh. Below 18 is a disaster
  2. Yesterday was 37.7 2.7% drop Great numbers Last week, WED was 38.4, so 4.4% drop week-to-week
  3. The very fact that we have no idea how it's behave is really exciting. Daily drops say the week-end should be closer to 90M, but week-end drops say the week-end should be closer to 100-120M, what the hell?
  4. It did happen to Avatar though. 17M sunday vs 19M monday. Highly likely it happens again this week-end, since TFA doesn't hold like Avatar in most cases.
  5. That's pushing nitpicking to a whole new level.
  6. It's weird that they use that. Seems really arbitrary and only really benefits this movie in particular. And kind of undermines the incredible records that Avatar set in its 4th and 5th week-ends.
  7. As it should be, wide only. Let's release a film in 1 theater for 13 weeks and then expand wide and it gets the record for biggest 14th and 15th week-ends? Bullshit. It's its first real week-end, and the records on boxofficemojo show that, by ignoring non-wide release week-ends. Thus, Avatar has 3rd through 7th week-ends, not American Sniper.

American Sniper? That doesn't seem right. It wasn't in wide release for its first 3 week-ends
  9. Can't decide between 4 and 5 huh? Also, where would you put 7?
  10. Unlikely, but possible. Let's say it stays flat at 29.5 for wednesday (which isn't that much of a stretch), it would need $21,9M thursday to reach that milestone, a 25.7% drop. Gonna be hard. Avatar dropped 20.2% on that same day in 2009, and TFA doesn't always follow Avatar's drops. Sometimes, it does though, like today, so there's still hope!

  12. Same here in Quebec. French dub is a big no for me. Last time I watched a french dubbed movie was... 2012? maybe. edit: Avengers in 2012 is the last time I watched a movie dubbed in French.
  13. Oh alright, sorry. It wasn't spoilerish that's why I posted it but I can see how it can be a problem
  14. Tuesday actuals: $29,528,583 / -5.8% / -21% -5.8%. Exactly Avatar's Tuesday hold on the same day in 2009. http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?page=daily&id=starwars7.htm
  15. Probably a movie that we don't even know will be made yet. When Avatar broke all records in 2009, nobody could guess that 1. Star Wars would be continued and 2. It would break almost all records.
  16. Interesting, didn't know that. However, they did have some countries opening in that week. The Hobbit 1, for example, opened in Australia on Dec 26, Iceland Dec 26, Pakistan Dec 28, and Vietnam Dec 28. Not much, but still... Pretty much the same pattern applies for Hobbit 2 and Hobbit 3 , give or take 1 country. That's why it's so hard to compare foreign holds
  17. So it's threatening all-time UK box office after 3 weeks?
  18. Compared to the week before too? Last tuesday it was at $41.3M, now $37.3M, not even 10% drop. For comparison, domestic dropped 21% between the 2 tuesdays.
  19. TFA now looking at 49% DOM/51% Intl ratio - going up for intl!
  20. Like on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, we can expect huge intl drops on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. Going to the cinema on those days really seems like an American thing.
  21. He said that only Monday would hold like crazy because of a British holiday. Then Tuesday would fall.
  22. intl 5% hold, holy shit. Someone on reddit said that monday was an anomaly, probably. Well, no, it wasn't!
