Finally watched The Prodigal Son (about time) and man, I have to agree here, the final fight is excellent!

Frankie Chan is virtually a complete unknown and yet look at that! What a guy. I've seen him in only one other movie, Outlaw Brothers, and he was amazing as well, I recommend it since it also stars the incredible Yukari Oshima.

To the surprise of no one, Yuen Biao is also a rockstar here.

Didn't see a thread for this show so figured I'd create one. Releases late 2020.

    What we know so far:

    • 9 episodes
    • Paul Bettany and Elizabeth Olsen reprise their roles.
    • Kat Dennings and Randall Park will be reprising their MCU roles of Darcy Lewis and Agent Jimmy Woo respectively.
    • Teyonah Parris will be playing an adult Monica Rambeau (child character from Captain Marvel)
    • will tie in directly with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, as Elizabeth Olsen also co-stars in that movie
    • Jac Schaeffer is showrunner, and the creative team is comprised of a majority of women
    • Parts were filmed in front of a live audience with a laugh track.
    • should be pretty weird, perhaps in the vein of FX's LEGION?
    • Release date is January 15th 2021

Apparently this show will impact the whole of Phase 4 so curious to see where they go with that. Wanda has lots of potential to be weird:

It’s wild to see a credible outlet like Deadline and twitter users with blue check marks make such wild statements regarding TROS box office. I don’t know if it’s cause these people are in denial or what but honestly it irks me because there are people who know nothing about the box office reading what they’re saying and thinking TROS is going to make $620M domestically and a billion by the end of the week WW. As someone who was lucky enough to find this forum early on in my days of box office tracking, I’d have been gullible enough to believe what these people wrote if I hadn’t.

To be fair, he strikes me as an ambitious man - you would need to be do accomplish what he has - and both tasks would seem tantalizing to someone like him:

    1. Nourish the MCU so that it doesn't go into a decline with the transition of focus on to new characters, and finally bringing in the huge FOX properties (most likely as a conclusion to the next phase of movies), thus ensuring continued success

    2. Breathing new life into what was the biggest name in franchise cinema before he turned the MCU into the monster it now is.

I feel like, once The Eternals is out, the next few projects will have big name recognition, with returning characters (Strange, Thor, Spidey, Black Panther, etc) so he won't need to micro-manage, just make sure the path is laid out to lead into the Fox characters coming in and get more involved with the execution of those movies (casting and writing/directing duties for any X-Men and FF projects will be such huge announcements for them, I think he will want to stay very much on top of the whole thing). That should allow him to focus a bit more on SW for the second half of 2020, and into 2021, I feel...

I don't necessarily think he's a Messiah, but he is a fantastic project manager, and the one thing the Disney SW movies have sorely lacked has been a coherent voice and distinct direction. He can bring that.

I think Kevin Feige's role now is basically to surround himself with the best. Think about it, he can't micro-manage everything he's micro-managing, it's just too much job, there's only 24 hours in a day and he can't be everywhere at once. So what he does is select the right people to do those things. It's probably his #1 priority in fact, finding the right people for everything. And what he focuses on.

You could say Lucasfilm have done pretty much the polar opposite of that, with their firing/dismissal of about 50% of the people they employed to oversee their projects.

Can we stop litigating Last Jedi now and just talk about how awful Rise of Skywalker is? I mean, from narrative choices to character development to performances (most of 'em anyway) to humor to dialogue to action sequences...it's all so dull, unimaginative, and brainless.

    Not the ROS review thread

  7. Finally, some time for a countdown! So busy lately... Count me in for the upcoming foreign movie countdown, gotta get some asia representation in there :D

So here's my tentative list for now

In the Line of Duty 4
    Devil Hunters
    Kiki's Delivery Service
    The Killer
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
    The Iceman Cometh
    Weekend at Bernie's
    Back to the Future II
    Kickboxer
    The Inspector Wears Skirts II

So basically a Hong Kong best of and American blockbusters... and Kiki

of course Donnie Yen would top my list @baumer haha

BTW in DEVIL HUNTERS there is the single most exploitative ending stunt ever put on film, it has to be seen to be believed. The movie ends on the producer explaining what went wrong and it cuts to the end credits sequence which consists of a newspaper montage of the lead actors in the hospital LMAO

    What the hell
