I would be lying if I said he wasn't on the mind because he always is but that wasn't the intention of that post. However I meant that E.T, Jaws, Indiana were the pinnacle of big blockbusters when they were released. Ready Player One clearly isn't.

It wasn't a cut above the rest as you would expect from Spielberg though, his power in comparison to the rest of directors isn't as big as it once was.

I watched in a small-screened theatre at the back seats and the sound was set quite low Didn't get the full experience that's for sure.

You gotta remember new IPs to the big screen always have small opening weekends, look at Avatar (77m). I'm expecting RP1 to make 200m DOM at a minimum.

Good film, very enjoyable! References were cool, for the Jim gang, we had the T2 thumbs up and the pulse rifle and Sulaco miniture. Wish they used the iconic sound of the pulse rifle though. I heard their was Na'vi? I didn't see them though. The ridiculousness of it all made the romance and inspirational lines fall somewhat flat for me but it was a solid 8/10 for me. Also last but not least. The creator of the virtual Oasis was called Jim, coincidence? I think not. -

I don't think it's fair to compare it with HarryPotter or Spidey though, the too many fans and hype from the source material. All of RP1's hype comes from the trailer.

That's why I put it in quotations. It can't be compared to a sequel or a first film of a popular book/comic book like Harry Potter or Spiderman. Or franchise films. No ones read Ready Player One

Of all the American sports I have to say that ice hockey looks the most appealing, mind you it's impossible to play recreationally.
