  1. The animation does not look like shit, in my opinion. It's actually decent. Seth Rogen got the right production team for this movie. The directors Greg Tiernan and Conrad Vernon are animation veterans.
  2. Why are we writing predictions before we see how the movies hold up on the weekdays?
  3. Uh, I thought the screenshot looked like shit. And it still does look like shit, by the way. They really got off on the wrong foot. The preview looks pretty fine.
  4. Maybe this film will have something intelligent to say about cliches that we see in so many PG animated films. Holy shit, I can't believe I said that.
  5. It also might fall victim to being a bad movie. https://twitter.com/Sethrogen/status/709118808535883777/video/1 Although, that preview doesn't look totally shitty. I thought we were going to get something that looked worse than Hoodwinked when that screenshot came out.
  6. Are you freaking kidding? Did you think The Night Before was also going to make that much money?
  7. It's pretty damn close in terms of general critical praise. Not that it matters, but I personally think Zootopia is better than those other two examples.
  8. What about previous animated films that got nominations?
  9. If anything, I guess what hurts Zootopia is being released the week right after the previous Oscars.
  10. I'm actually interested in seeing a review for this movie. I wonder if anyone is going to take it seriously.
  11. Anyone think Zootopia has a shot at a Best Picture nomination?
  12. How the fuck is it not going to get a nomination? Have you seen the acclaim it has, and the money it's making? I think whether or not it gets a Best Picture nomination is a better question.
  13. Really? This one? Actually didn't like it when I first saw it. I only became a big believer when I saw the last US trailer.
  14. In the Q4 2015 conference call, CEO Bob Iger speculated that this film would be a "real sleeper hit". I dunno if he thought it would do this well. https://thewaltdisneycompany.com/disneys-fiscal-full-year-and-q4-2015-earnings-results-webcast/

  16. Awesome, and more than likely. The other movie it's up against has only 19% on Rotten tTomatoes and is part of a tired young adult series.
