It was Cats the musical but on the big screen. The musical wasn’t my cup of tea so it’s no surprise the movie wasn’t my cup of tea either. But I admit I was more scarred watching the movie than I was watching the play. The choice to have the actors CGId as cats has emotionally scarred me for quite sometime.

I’m going out to lunch in a few hours with a childhood friend and they have free movie tickets so they asked if I wanted to go. Of course I’m not passing up an opportunity to go to the movies so I asked what they wanted to watch and they go “The only movie I know out is Frozen 2.” Safe to say I cancelled our lunch plans and I’m now in search of a new childhood friend. Any takers?

TROS is not missing a billion. It legit needs to start free falling in every single market and while it’s drops haven’t been great so far, they haven’t been bad either. They’ve been pretty par the course so I don’t see why it would start free falling all of a sudden. However I don’t believe it’ll go that much over a billion.

He’s 100% a very ambitious person and an amazing project manager. That’s why others and myself have thrown his name around. I def think he would be up for the project too. My only hesitation is as I said, I feel like he would want to take care of his universe first before jumping into another one. But who the hell knows with him. He probably has everything laid out for the MCU into 2023 but we just haven’t had any announcements yet. If that’s the case then I can totally seeing him jumping into the Star Wars universe sooner rather than later. But if things aren’t planned out yet, then he might get involved later. I def think at some point in time he will get himself involved with Star Wars. I’m just not sure if it’s sooner or later than we expect. And I think it all depends on how much he has planned out for the MCU. It also makes you wonder if say Feige says he wants to work on Star Wars but needs to iron out the MCU first, will Disney and Lucas Films be patient and wait for him? I def think they should. But who knows if Bob Iger has that kind of patience considering he pretty much rushed TFA.

I know I’ve said Kevin Feige should take over but I do wonder if he even wants the role. He seems like a person who doesn’t like putting way too much on his plate. He’s been very methodical in how he’s dealt with the MCU and making sure everything is covered before moving onto the next step. I feel like he’s going to be focused on implementing the Fox Marvel characters into the MCU while also keeping the current MCU in check. If he does get involved, I can’t imagine it would be before him having a plan in place for the rest of his universe.

I don’t think anyone should be surprised by TROS dropping so much. After the holiday rush is gone, it needed to get good WOM to keep it going and despite what a poster has said in the previous thread about it having “great” WOM, it’s WOM is pretty meh. I know several people who have watched it and not a single person has recommended it to me. Which was the opposite of TFA, Rogue One and even TLJ. I’m thinking it’ll struggle to reach a 3x multiplier and fall in the low 500s. Probably around 515-525M. But let’s see how this weekend fully goes.

If I’m a stakeholder I’m more concerned over what Disney plans to do with Star Wars now. It seems like they don’t have a clear cut plan and that’s what’s most concerning imo which just adds to the decrease in box office from each film and the decrease in merchandise sales. That would be “ok” if Disney had a plan to course correct but it doesn’t seem like they do. That we know of yet of course.

I wonder when the MCU is going to open up a film during the Christmas season. Obviously not anytime soon but I would be interested to see the types of legs it would have. Like I wonder if an MCU film (not named the Avengers) would have a large opening ($150M+) and then get like a 3.3x multiplier off of that because of the holidays.

I had completely forgotten The Mandalorian was on American Streaming only as I forgot Disney plus wasn't pushed to international markets. Its a shame cause The Mandalorian is some really great stuff especially the last episode. I have no idea if international audiences will like it or not but its a step in the right direction creatively imo

I mean don’t get me wrong, I still think a Star Wars movie can pull in numbers but unless they change their strategy then I’m not sure a billion is gonna happen for future SW movies. It seems like the Mandalorian is being very well received so if they translate that to the big screen they’ll be fine. Luckily for SW, Disney owns so many properties now that when it comes to other franchise films opening up against SW the only competition it’ll have is from DC. But I have no doubt that studios in general won’t be running from a Star Wars film anymore like say they would have after TFA opened.

No movie should be scared of Star Wars domestically or OS. The first Jumanji went toe to toe with it just fine. Jumanji 2 is holding its own. A year and a half ago Han Solo got slaughtered at the BO after opening after IW and Deadpool 2. So why would Aquaman 2 worry about Star Wars? Especially since the first was so well liked. If anything Star Wars is the one that should be concerned. If a movie like Aquaman opens against SW it’ll wipe the floor with it OS, and domestically it’ll be closer than you guys think.

Probably late 2022 or one of the 2023 release dates. I mean I can't imagine they'd release it more than 5 years since the second like in 2024 and beyond although who knows what Feige's plan is with the Fox properties. Also Ryan sharing that Deadpool 3 is being in development at Marvel like okay bud we already know that. How about you guys give us some actual news like the cast, director, release date etc I saw "Deadpool 3" trending and actually thought we were getting news like Taika directing since his name was also trending but nope still at square 1.

I’ll never forget when they changed the name of the Han Solo movie to Ranger Solo in China just to hide the Star Wars brand and Chinese audiences still rejected it!

So how come I’m just finding out that Kevin Garnett and The Weeknd star in Uncut Gems *Ive never watched the trailer or know anything about the plot btw. I was going into the movie blind and just saw the starring cast.
