  1. The runs are not the same in the end. Star Wars Episode 8 probably would have done $550M versus the $620M that it did had it had a summer release date. I think you severely underestimate how much the holidays help movies and their total grosses. Yes opening weekends are dampened a bit but it’s all saved with tremendous legs. TLJ would have been lucky to get a 2.25 multiplier in the summer.
  2. It’s a question I’ve asked for bit. I’ve always wondered how an MCU film would fair with holiday legs.
  3. I said a similar gross. Not the exact gross. BvS did $874M WW. TROS would have probably done around $900M or so without the holidays saving its legs.
  4. The irony in comparing TROS to BvS is that had TROS had a March release date, it’s gross would actually be closer to BvS than one would think.
  5. Taylor Swift’s movie CATs was a box office bomb and critically panned. But Taylor Swift’s cats were in the critically and financially successful movie Deadpool 2. The irony of her cats having a more successful movie career than her after she starred in a movie titled Cats
  6. I’m actually interested in the budget for this. Ryan isn’t going to be getting a back end deal or producer money the way he did for the first two Deadpool movies so I imagine he’s going to demand a lot up front ($30M+). Not sure if he gets it or not but if he does then taking Deadpool 2’s budget and adding that salary takes the budget to at least $140M without any other additions. Then I also wonder about the box office prospects for this. DP2 decreased from the first domestically but stayed relatively stable OS (sans China) although decreasing in some markets while increasing in others. But the one thing Feige has been great with is making the third film in all the MCU trilogies very high stakes so they all increase at the box office. Will see what he comes up with for this movie and if it helps out the film at the box office.
  7. Maybe October 2022. That’s the earliest I’d expect. They don’t have a director yet and there hasn’t been news of them searching for one. Plus Ryan has a bunch of projects lined up to shoot all next year. I can’t imagine shooting will begin until 2021.
  8. This is the greatest thing ever produced on these forums. I can’t believe how talented my childhood friends @Arendelle Legion and @Jedi Jat are 🤗🤗🤗
  9. All this negativity in this thread. TROS is making $620M whether you bozos like it or not. Even if Disney has to take $120M from TLJ to do it. TROS will reach $620M.
  10. Since I brought it up, the one thing that bothers me about Amazon’s streaming service is I always here about these first look deals that they have with people but then I never actually see any shows from said people? They did have The Man In The High Castle which I really enjoyed though.
  11. I hope they repeat the deal. I feel like I missed out on all the deals. I signed up earlier this year with Verizon so I missed out on their Netflix promo and their Disney plus promo. Instead I got the useless amazon prime membership. Im hoping as new shows drop, they offer special deals to get subscribers in.
  12. Ugh I’m so upset I missed out on that 3 year deal. I’m hoping they bring it back but I doubt it. Either way $70 for the year isn’t too bad and much cheaper than other streaming services so I can’t complain too much lol
  13. The price was the biggest reason why I got Disney plus. I did the yearly thing and with tax it’s $6 monthly. I’ve used it quite a bit while I’ve been on my break lol I imagine for someone who has kids it’s a steal!
  14. So 6 underground was pretty decent. It’s a bit too long but I suppose they needed to do that to give us some background info on the characters. I’d actually be interested in seeing a sequel now that the introduction of the characters is out of the way.
  15. Yea I’ve been watching it but Im not getting the appeal for it. I thought maybe if I kept watching it, I’ll get to the good stuff but so far that hasn’t happened lol
  16. Okay so I’m watching 6 underground and this is by far the most Bay film I’ve ever watched....and I’m only 20 minutes in.
  17. I mean are we surprised? Everyone I know either didn’t finish The Irishman or had it on in the background while they went to sleep. Although I suppose the “2 minute” rule with Netflix would mean that all those counted as a “watch,” but yea I don’t know a single person who recommended me to watch it so I haven’t....yet. Haven’t watched 6 underground either but the people I know who have watched it claimed it was a mindless popcorn flick with a bunch of bay explosions lol Im currently watching The Witcher and then gonna do season 2 of You. Although with the latter I’m getting really really really uncomfortable with how social medial is treating Joe as if he isn’t a psychopath who murders people.
  18. So I decided to watch TROS and I really wish I hadn’t. I can’t remember the last time I hated literally everything a movie did to the characters of a franchise. Yet TROS somehow someway made me hate literally everything they did to the characters.
  19. @ZackM how did you come up with those numbers? Like what have you been using to gather your data points?
  20. If this forum isn’t “professional” enough for you then go join Deadline’s comments section.
  21. A professional doesn’t continue to publish misguided numbers/statements when data clearly indicates otherwise. A professional correctly explains why comparing TROS to TLJ 1:1 is not an accurate way to predict TROS box office run going forward. A professional admits that they were mistaken with their predicts early on and actually gives their readers a realistic range of where TROS ends up. I can’t say any of this about the so called professionals at Deadline or Scott Mendelson but I can say that about several members here.
  22. It’s wild to see a credible outlet like Deadline and twitter users with blue check marks make such wild statements regarding TROS box office. I don’t know if it’s cause these people are in denial or what but honestly it irks me because there are people who know nothing about the box office reading what they’re saying and thinking TROS is going to make $620M domestically and a billion by the end of the week WW. As someone who was lucky enough to find this forum early on in my days of box office tracking, I’d have been gullible enough to believe what these people wrote if I hadn’t.
