  1. Success is subjective. None of us know what any of these people want. I mean for some it could mean money. For others it could be making a bunch of movies all the time. For others it could be spending time with their family while making a movie here and there etc It’s interesting cause I was just reading a piece about Josh Hartnett and what happened to him. And in the interview he talked about how he was more content with his life when the attention stop being focused on him. He enjoys making his indie movies and spending time with his family. Some would say he’s not successful or whatever but since he’s made so much money he can now make choices in his life that allow him to do whatever the hell he wants...and he’s happy. So in reality he’s successful.
  2. I feel like they’re next box office hit is going to be A Quiet Place 2. So a stretch of like 8-9 months without a true box office hit. Yikes. I was talking to a member on here about Paramount in general and they seem to have overtaken the top stop for studio who doesn’t know what the fuck it’s doing.
  3. I feel like unless it’s an Oscar film (like American Sniper or 1917) or an MLK release people view any January releases as bad movies. So they may have seen a trailer for this but then saw the release date and thought the studio was just trying to get rid of it. I’m hoping for a mini breakout too but I won’t be surprised if it doesn’t happen.
  4. I’m interested to see how this does at the box office considering the positive reviews/WOM it’s getting. Wouldn’t be surprised at high teens low twenties but box office is wonky so who knows.
  5. Why would RDJ or any actor for the matter be affected by a box office bomb that currently has a 13% on RT? If this movie was getting great reviews and still bombed I’d understand questioning an actor/actress’s future and even then so much goes into that like marketing, trailers etc But when a movie is getting critically panned, I can’t blame the cast for the movie bombing. People aren’t going to waste money buying tickets to bad movies.
  6. Dolittle has sold 7 tickets for tomorrow night at my local theater. Previews starting at 5PM. Bad Boys 3 has sold 123 tickets for tomorrow night. Previews starting at 4PM.
  7. Unless it’s getting help from OS that’s not happening cause the domestic tracking thread for it look really bad
  8. The Cinemarks in my area usually have showtimes and tickets available before other theater chains at least for the mid budget films. For a movie like BOP I’d imagine all theater chains would put showtimes up around the same time but still 8 days is late for a film.
  9. That’s very late for movies in general especially at Cinemark.
  10. Paramount is going to start the decade off with three box office flops/bombs. Like A Boss, This and Sonic. Not a good omen.
  11. Reviews for this seem pretty good so far. Thinking it’ll hover in the 70s on RT.
  12. Will this get better reviews than Cats or worse? They’re battling right now.
  13. No female James Bond which Barbara has made clear numerous times. She loves Daniel Craig (I mean who doesn’t?). The budget is $250M (damn).
  14. Dolittle isn't even on sale yet at the theaters I used to track Frozen 2. So I have nothing for that.
  15. They thought this movie was crappy and yet it has a 53% on RT right now. No that's not great but other Disney films have gotten bigger marketing campaigns and ended up being far worse. If every Fox movie that is in the 50% range on RT is going to get this kind of treatment then why did Disney bother purchasing the studio?
  16. It’s not effective considering half of the movies I went through on their list I hadn’t even heard of
  17. I’m not arguing with you about whether or not Joker fits that description. I’m just saying that the list wasn’t created based on how many awards the movie will take lol The current list is a weird list of movies without any real criteria of how they decided to make up the list. Anyways it’s been going on since the summer and I’m just realizing it right now so maybe they have a trend of films they like picking and I’m just not picking up on it cause I’m currently looking at their current list of Artisan films and its just random.
  18. From reading the press release they created this “list” because they wanted films that don’t get the attention they deserve because they’re sandwiches between Marvel films and Super hero films. I guess Joker made the list cause he isn’t marvel or a super hero 😝
  19. The Joker was on there! So I guess it throws away the non-franchise theory. Farewell was listed though as I went back through their films that they had on their list. Not sure about Hustlers or Little Women. *Edited: yea those weren’t on there. The list they have on their website right now is a bunch of films with good reviews (except for CATS) and then some films that haven’t come out yet but that they included on their list. Wonder why Hustlers and Little Woman got left off but Joker got included 🤣🤣🤣
  20. I guess my question then becomes is why do some films get the artisan tags and some don’t? There are some non-franchise films that aren’t listed on there. I thought it was related to budget but films from very low budgets to as high as $90M are there. Then I started to think that maybe they were trying to promote critically well received films or films they presume to be well received since a lot of the films on their list have good to really good reviews but I saw CATs got the approval so clearly that’s not the case 😝 I appreciate what they’re doing I suppose but wish they’d be more clear as to how they decide their films.
  21. Random question but what the hell is an AMC Artisan film? I found about this when I went to go by The Gentleman tickets off its website and that film was listed as an Artisan film. I tried to look it up and look at past movies that fit into that category but most of them range in budgets and content. Apparently it was a way to help mid budget movies but like I’m trying to figure out what the criteria is for an “Artisan” film at AMC. It’s def not indies that’s for sure.
