  1. Not even touching The Last Emperor for this. Anything under 2 hours has the automatic advantage. Except for Maurice, which I've seen pretty high up on a few people's lists and which I've been interested in for a while, especially with James Ivory having just co-written Call Me by Your Name which is one of the major movies set to come this year.
  2. BOM says We Are the Best! is a comic book adaptation so that's automatically #1 for the 2010s. Scott Pilgrim and Dredd the next two.
  3. Ha, that kinda sounds like his character in Naked (he gives one of the best performances you'll ever see in that) with charisma turned off.
  4. I'm not watching Fargo but are they doing right by Thewlis? For someone who can be so fucking great his career he's had a pretty depressing career especially recently.
  5. The '90s were a more innocent time. As for the first thing, I'm sure they could work around that if they wanted to
  6. I propose a sequel to The Hidden in which an older Kyle MacLachlan returns to again fight a human-inhabiting alien slug whose primary motivation is that it takes whatever it wants and who at a crucial point declares "I want to be president". Don't tell me that wouldn't be huge today.
  7. What Bay should really do is reunite with Nic Cage on one of these movies and have him try and defeat decepticons or whoever through sheer scenery-chewing. I'd be there opening day.
  8. They do that often with their May releases but rarely this obviously. There's been the hilarious Prince of Persia thing and Iron Man 3's PTA jumping 35% on the weekend of Monsters University (which wasn't even father's day) but most of the time the holds look more normal. They clearly thought "ah fuck it" and decided to go all-in this year.
  9. Pirates and Guardians with 20% drops despite losing a thousand theaters each is pretty close to Prince of Persia's 14% drop on Toy Story 3 OW level of shameless
  10. If WW drops like Snow White on Sunday (26%) it gets a 38m weekend. If it drops like Jurassic World (2%) it gets a 42m weekend. Almost certainly a sub-35% weekend drop no matter what.
  11. Yeah I struggled to stay awake during the middle section. The final 20 minutes brought me back to life but they would have needed to reshape the entire story to really make the final turn of events sing. As it stands it's too little too late with a whole lot of filler before it.
  12. Not exactly a lot of competition there. Unless you just want to take down Kubo a little. In which case I'll allow it. I can't wait to see Thor and Hulk try to survive the cold English countryside.

  14. She's being great on Twin Peaks right now but yeah in terms of movies she's having the worst luck. It's even worse because she's always committed too, you can tell she wants to sell this shit even though no one on Earth could.
  15. The spoilery description of the story in the THR review sounds incredible. They need to combine Sea of Trees, Shut In and this into a triple feature of "Can we please rescue Naomi Watts from insanely idiotic scripts?" mid-2010s movies.
