That's a lot to ask from any actor really. For what it's worth I thought he was quietly impressive in Adventureland and effectively sold everything he needed to sell in Buried. If he hooked up with an actor's director on the level of James Gray on the right dramatic role, I wouldn't be surprised if he drew praise for that too.
Problem is that they won't even give a blockbuster Best Picture these days when there comes one in a decade that really deserves it. Yeah I still think it's dumb that Fury Road didn't sweep everything why do you ask?
Tiny example but I was a little shocked when Elle suddenly went 200+ theaters after Huppert's best actress win at the Globes and its weekend gross jumped over 400%. And then when she got nominated for the Oscar there was pretty much no box office boost in comparison. Non-foreign language Manchester By The Sea which actually won a Best Actor Oscar didn't see any boost from that either.
Pretty sure Slumdog Millionaire is the only BP winner in the past who knows how many years that made really substantial money before AND after its win.
Neeson as Shaw Sr. would be funnier considering he and Mirren lived together for years. Sure he's only 15 years older than Statham but when did real-life age difference ever bother anyone in Hollywood.
Gods and Monsters is good and all and Kinsey is a decent biopic to watch once but the guy has made nothing worthwhile since then. Get someone with an actual style.
Yeah I laughed out loud when I saw the thread title and clicked on the third page only for something about Han and cyberstalking to jump out at me. Never change BOT.
