  1. A Clockwork Orange is the only Kubrick that got worse for me on repeat viewings so I'm actually glad it missed. Barry Lyndon, on the other hand...
  2. Still like Gladiator a ton. Not enough to place it on my own top 100 list but more than a lot of films that have shown up here. Great rousing entertainment.
  3. Yeah Bound is damn good. Prime example in how to spin a stylish twisty thriller out of just a couple locations and three major characters.
  4. You know he made movies prior to LOTR right. Heavenly Creatures is one of the all-time greats. Braindead and Forgotten Silver are both wonderful.
  5. I don't love everything about 2001 (yet, probably; it's another Kubrick that's clearly a grower), but it's damn cool seeing it so high.
  6. Aaaannnnd we're off and running with the "This movie is going to WIN this category" predictions in May
  7. If you believe that The Exorcist did $193m during its first run, the sequel with its $30.7m dropped almost 85%. Post-1980 Blair Witch 2 dropped over 80% (26m vs 140m), Gremlins 2 around 72% (41m vs 148m), Analyze That about 70% (32m vs 106m).
  8. Its 45m Friday was the second biggest opening day ever at the time. I actually remember thinking it was gonna take down Spider-Man's OW record, because what's a 2.5 IM over a holiday weekend? Then it went ahead and showed me what "frontloaded" means.
  9. Not kidding when I say the most interesting thing going on for me BO-wise is The Lobster's expansion. If A24 actually manages to get something that idiosyncratic and singular into even a semi-wide release for a couple of weeks it'll be amazing. So far it's holding OK too.
  10. Hamm was already in The Town and Sucker Punch a few months before that, in bigger roles. They all had more free time during that period because the fourth season started in summer 2010 and the fifth didn't hit until March 2012.
