  1. I remember last week, the Comscore for this didn't even make the top 10. Mainly because those reports were after Super Bowl L, and Kong didn't have a spot during the game. Pretty big jump.
  2. More than 24,000 new discussions were generated about Kong: Skull Island during the past week. http://variety.com/2017/film/news/emma-watson-beauty-and-the-beast-star-wars-logan-1201992451/
  3. I think that was a mistake too. The movie had four months left before its release. Beauty and the Beast and Logan only recently revealed their last trailers. I think it was early this month or late last month....or I could be wrong. I don't remember. I also agree about the spoiler'd comment. I hate that news websites are just carelessly putting that in their headlines. They are all fucking amateurs.
  4. It was filmed in early 2015. I'm fairly certain that this movie was dumped in May with the assumption that it didn't stand a chance anywhere else. Warner Bros. knows this.
  5. Neither Fox, nor Universal are changing slots. February 2018 will resemble March 2017, with too many big-budget movies packing into a single month. I think Deadpool and BVS have set an unwarranted trend.
  6. I rarely complain about reboots simply because I know it's all about the studio wanting a new money-maker. The odd part is that the Predator franchise is hardly a box office juggernaut. These movies typically have small multipliers.
  7. Beauty and the Beast is going to break records next month. Everyone and their mother is talking about it...
  8. If Kong were to make less than Pacific Rim, that would be nuts. I just can't picture that happening.
  9. Yeah, I probably made a fallacious statement. But four of the five films I saw from them last year were duds. The sole exception to this was Deepwater Horizon. Can't really blame me if I have very low hopes for Power Rangers.
  10. Tbf, I'm not surprised either. Not because I hate it (I just don't have confidence in the film due to how it's being presented), but because this is Lionsgate after all. Good films from that studio are becoming pretty uncommon.
  11. Another Letterbox'd review. This one is more lengthy. It goes into more detail, and has very, very minor spoilers (like quotes and stuff). Brief excerpt: https://letterboxd.com/dvr1138/film/kong-skull-island/ The review is longer than that, btw.
  12. Anybody checking Twitter for updates may want to watch out. The index had one person spoil the post-credits sequence... That's one nice surprise to look forward to, but damn it I would have loved to see it first hand without knowing anything.
  13. The Great Wall - 3D February 16th, 2017, 9:15 PM, 40% full Marquee Cinemas Southridge 12 | Charleston, WV Trailers: Logan - No reactions. Gifted - No reactions. Power Rangers - No reactions. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales - No reactions. Bigger crowd than I anticipated. Not as many people went to see John Wick: Chapter 2 the week before. That was a better movie. Not to say this was bad, I just knew that it was going to be a popcorn flick. The room had 100 seats, and almost 40 of them were filled. That being said, one guy commented about how it was "an hour he wouldn't get back." Nobody seemed to be excited once the credits rolled. I liked it, but I understand why some people didn't. It's a popcorn flick, and nothing more.
  14. I love how these days, Hollywood is more open to hiring directors outside of their known craft. Sandberg is a horror director, but it sounds like WB sees something in him. Either that or they're desperate, but I don't think that is the case here. They would have to be grasping at straws if they didn't have confidence in him.
  15. Not a fan of the humor. This is something I have low expectations for at the moment.
  16. Dailan Wanda thought it was a disappointment because it was projected to make much more than that. Also, its budget is $150 million and it's only made $224.5 million. It's an obvious loss for Universal as well as Legendary.
  17. Official IMAX featurette. I wish I had an IMAX theater in my area, because this feels like something that's mandatory for that sort of thing.
  18. As of February 12, it has made $170,419,263 in China. I think its international run is out of steam by now. To give the movie some credit, last night's 9:15 showing was more filled than I expected it to be. There were almost 40 people there. I counted...
  19. Saw it. Liked it. The movie's fun, but if you go in expecting top-notch acting and award worthy screenwriting, you're fucking crazy.
